I'd love to see her ex in 5 years
As the conservator of those kids estates, which is what all of this is about. In 5 years you can bet baby needs a new Ferrari and nightly lapdances to say nothing of a 'record company business' that only hires K-Feds homies.

Chasing the moose...
We build them up and we tear them down. Nothing new under the sun. What's particularly obnoxious though is "our" hypocrisy. When Britney was riding high, you could have read Sarah Silverman like jabs at her right here from RT and company, but now that she's on the skids they want to excuse their own previous behavior, pull out the royal "we", start the pity party and go on about how it's society's fault. They've pulled the same tactic earlier using Britney (again), Anna Nicole Smith, Lindsey Lohan, Tammy Faye Baker and even Paris Hilton as examples of society's pernicious desire to destroy young women!
Apparently, it's okay to chase the moose until it drowns so long as you feel bad about it afterwards.

"F" Britney Spears
As mean as the public has been, as mean as the media has been during her downfall, such is the price of fame.
Britney Spears had no problem building her fame and her fortune on the image of pubescent, sexpot jail-bait. She had no problems when the media focused on her once-perfect body instead of her talent - real or imagined. She was fine with the attention, because it was attention she craved.
Well, now she has it. She's let herself go a little, as all of us have, and the media darling has become a media punching bag because she chose to market herself as a sexual object and not as a talented performer. She chose to dress in that get up after letting herself go and she chose to sleepwalk through what had to be one of the most important performances of her career.
Welcome to the real world Brit. The folks who drooled over you will turn on you when you make decisions like this. And everyone loves a train wreck. The only thing more fun than watching your meteoric rise is watching you circle the bowl on the way back down. Schadenfreude is a meal best served on national TV.
But hey, we're still talking about her, and that's all that counts, right?

FAT
When I read people calling Britney Spears fat, I sympathize with all the women who complain that they are being held to impossible standards of bodily beauty.
The only people calling Britney Spears fat and obese are 16 year olds and men who haven't seen a woman naked in a very very long time.
Although I will agree it was an unfortunate choice of costume!

16 year olds
And even a large majority of the 16 year olds who dissed her to their friends would be happy to have a girlfriend half as good looking as her.

Here's a different perspective...
When Britney first hit the airwaves, I was standing in Best Buy and couldn’t believe my eyes. Who was this slickly packaged young nymphet with the face of an angel and the body / wardrobe of a pole dancer? I remember thinking at the time, “Nothing is going to stop this girl from being gobbled up by the media.” As a teen of the 80’s, I remember Madonna having the same effect, the difference being that by the time she achieved “Superstar” status, she was an independent woman in her 20’s who possessed a fierce determination to succeed at all costs, not to mention notable talent and “street smarts”.
Our daughters were four and six at the time, and it made me cringe to think of what sort of effect this young performer would have on their self images, as well as how young men would perceive them should her message of “good-girl-readily-available-for-naughty-trysts” should catch on. I needn’t have worried. As our girls grew, there were no pleas to attend Britney’s latest concert or desire to clothe themselves in any ‘Britney-inspired” fashions. Thankfully, they had enough sense to see through what was a desperate need for attention and a shocking lack of self-respect and morals. Britney was certainly a trail blazer for many other young performers, and it saddens me to witness what is now considered “music” and “entertainment” because of it. My daughter just asked me to sign a waiver for her upcoming school dance, which will have a production team present filming what they hope to become the next big reality show, “Pimp My Dance”. {{{{SHUDDER}}}} However, not every young songstress has become a Britney-clone, and if she is experiencing a backlash now, it is of her own doing. She has disgusted her adoring fans with her lack of professionalism, and it is my sincerest wish that young female singers will consider this a lesson learned and not fall into the same self-delusional, destructive behaviour that has plagued Britney for the past several years.

Ick
I hope this has already been mentioned: here's an article shaming everyone for relishing the Britney trainwreck, and what picture is presented along with it? The all-time most unflattering possible image of this girl. It's a straight-on shot of her bending forward to maximize her soft chewy center and looking as wide and dumpy as humanly possible for a relatively fit/attractive person. Nice job ostensibly standing up for her while visually mocking her in a pretty mean-spirited way. It hurts imagining the person in charge of choosing that photo surveying the options and gleefully zeroing in on that one: "Heh, heh, perfect!"
Yuck.

I thought I was watching the dancing hippos in Fantasia
She was fat. Oh maybe not "fat" if she had worn something flattering. But stuffed into that glittery thing like a pork sausage in a bikini and wriggling around on national tv...she was FAT. She chose the outfit, she agreed to dance around in it. She's a mess largely of her own making.
I feel sorry and bad for Liza Minnelli when I see her now. She was never my taste in entertainment, but she did have talent for what she did. I can feel pity for her because it must be difficult to be a shaddow of your former self (even if much of the downfall is self inflicted). But Britney Spears made a fortune on no talent and no ability whats so ever. She should thank her lucky stars and retire to a cushy life of luxury. I don't care to see her shaved head or snatch, her drunken escapades or poor parenting demonstration...all done for the most self absorbed quest for attention.
