  I'm not surprised

  That there was so much hostility about this article. I'm sure there will be more. But really, I didn't find the article's tone so offensive. It's true, sperm is commercialised to a degree these days just like women who sell their eggs or become surrogate mothers for cash. And as the previous letter writer suggested I think the anger seen in the letters only proves Moore's point that this isn't yet a concept men on the whole are comfortable with. That's fine, no reason to be angry about it - I'm not comfortable on the whole with women selling their eggs to desperate infertile couples but I can live with it.

  And why on earth do people keep saying Moore has no idea what she's talking about? The woman has taken part in the whole system after all. What, being a lesbian disqualifies her? I would think her associate professorship in sociology more than qualified her alone. Sociology is the study of people and society and if she's taken the trouble to get as far as she has in it I would say she knows more about how to research a topic and have her say about it than most of us. Coupled with personal experience I would give her a hearing. And before you start, I'm just a single, hetero woman who actually just found the article interesting.
