Psych meds drove my son crazy

At 17, my son was a funny, odd autistic boy. But a misdiagnosis turned him into a violent, unpredictable man, and drove our family to the brink.

The letters thread is now closed.

DonaQuixote and AKA Smith, sort of a happy ending

M_ called up and wanted to speak to me. she was able to talk to her mother who's driving her to a therapist recommended by her school counselor (she's 18). she was convinced to go by her best friend who was raped by the same guy who raped her in february. (she had the depression/anxiety before but this didn't help). she said she had a hard time telling anybody. i told her, you told me and the more you talk the more it ceases to have a hold on you. i also said, i'm just a man, i can't really help like a woman can so she (and her friend too) should see a rape counselor. the guy's in jail. maybe he'll be deported, but i'd rather he be in jail where he can't hurt anyone else. it's almost inhuman to get turned on by terrorizing someone, but there *are* animals and they belong in cages. she feels dirty and is afraid to go out with boys (she says many ask her these days). i said, you shouldn't just stay in your room, but you have a right to be thirteen again. just go to public places. i can understand that you are worried (that they might be sickos *attracted* by the fact she was raped), but if you are always in public, it'll be ok. if he's worth anything, he'll understand. it's AWFUL. what can i say? it's NOT YOUR FAULT. you did what you had to to protect yourself and survive. anyway, i told her to keep in touch (with good news). thanks for your concern. i hope i helped. you helped too.

Psych Meds save crazy boy’s life

A prescription of Ativan, a correct diagnosis, and the additional therapies administered by the doctors at the Mayo Clinic have given Ann Bauer’s son back his life. According to her web site, http://www.annbauer.com/autisticcatatonia.html, after a nightmare of experience with doctors who misdiagnosed and “improperly prescribed anti-psychotic drugs,” the doctors at Mayo finally got it right.

All of us who are involved directly or indirectly with so-called 'mental' disorders are thankful for the gifted doctors of the world who, in this case, understood the connection between autism and catatonia.

It’s important to note that we are equally grateful for the prescription drugs which, when properly administered, can help give our loved ones back their lives.

I hope Ann’s experience will help to correct the unfortunate notion that all prescription drugs are bad.

Thank you Ann; by sharing your painful story and its successful treatment, you have given all of us hope.

Abilify, Concerta Plus Effexor for a 13 years old boy

My son took the Concerta since 8 years old. When he reach 10 years old his eyes tics, I brought him to see his doctor(we visited his doctor every 3 months regularly) . The doctor keep giving the Concerta. His tics getting seriously bother him then I have to stop it by myself last April, 2006 (12 years old). The doctor gave him Strattera. I searched and found this medicine has "black Label" for children and didn't give to him any and trash it. But doctor never told me he will have suicidal thinking after I stop the Concerta.

http://www.uhuh.com/education/ritpsych.htm

Beginning January of 2007, the school keep calling me that he talked strangely and had suicidal thinking and asked me to bring him to see doctor. I brought him to see his HMO doctor on February, 2007 and they forced me to let him hospitalized for 7 days (without consulting). The contractor doctor in Hospital gave my 13 years old son Effexor(75 mg) plus Abilify (30 mg) for 7 days. After he got out from hospital, he was really crazy. This time he is not thinking only he really want to die. He knock his head to walls. Hit himself by his own fists. Then after 2 months took Ability, he said he want to kill other people. He cut himself and I have to sent him to hospital again. (May, 2007)

He got seizures in the emergency room. I finally noticed that his blood sugar and potassium too low. I stop the Hospital gave him any drugs. I knew those drugs will either kill or retarded him. I researched believed Concerta like all other illegal drugs will block human digestion system's chemical process. The long term users will no longer can produce enough Glucose (brain major partner) by themselves. With no glucose (the brain damaged). human can not make enough Vitamins C, B complex, Amino Acid etc. all basic nutritions for normal functions. It will cause heart problems, blood pressures and low blood sugar problem. The damaged liver also can not supply glucose to brain regularly.

When patients who have low blood sugar problems (cause by all psycho drugs side effects), the symptoms are similar to crazy symptoms and the doctors will give them more heavy dosages toxic midicines which will make those patients either retarded or death. Retarded mental patients with good insurance are gold mines for those "Professional".

My son stayed home since February 2007. I gave him food grade Glucose powder( 44 grams) add to orange juice 3-4 times each day. I dropped all his "medicines" since May, 2007. He didn't appear any unstable since. He can join us to talk and act normally now. But the school call me (he shall get to high school after this summer), because he talked that he want to kill people in the emergency room (blood sugar low) and police came and made a report to school. The school want give him psychologist test wich will prevend him go to regular high school. I want to stay with him when they do the test to him because he is a minor. I don't want they put words in his mouths.

Do you have any suggestions can help me now.

ps. Most people scare away to see family member crazy. But, It is the most important moment to help those people with no voices.
