re: psych meds
Ohmygod. it's 1 a.m. in san diego and i am crying as i am reading your story. right now my 20 y.o. son is wandering around in the night. his story eerily echoes yours and your son's. and your family's.
My son Brett has had 17 different diagnoses. He is simply autistic/HFA.
Now he is on six meds and the meds were changed last week, and my current nightmare began.
your words were incredibly powerful to me. they describe exactly how it is to love someone who is bat shit crazy and still functioning, as a friend of mine would say.
Geodone caused immediate and horrible side effects. i went straight to the ER.
He is going downhill. I feel so helpless at the mo.
I also watched a friend have the same symptoms. He is 56, IQ 150, and last year he was placed on those meds and gained 40 lbs. He is HFA, and it was terrible and weird. One day I visited and he insisted I listen to the selection of music he mixed for his funeral. It started with Jim Morrison's, "The End."
ohmygod.
He finally went into some sort of diabetic state and crashed his car. Then the meds were looked into.
I am a nurse and I think it is beyond criminal that drug companies seduce us with drugs that are so dangerous. the field is so corrupt everyone starts trying to use one drug for any number of other things, just in case.
I just know this one thing...neurolyptics are horrible for HFA.
period. We all need to revisit the drugs we take and the ones we give to our loved ones.
seriously.
I currently feel like I am losing my son. I put in a call to the doc but it is sat night. right.
geeegee
