Letters to the Editor

Last fall, after 13 years of pleasurable puffing, I smoked my last cigarette. I thought quitting would make me feel healthy and hale -- so why the hell is my body falling apart?
  • I miss using smoking as a social filter also

Another thing I miss about smoking is that is was a very good social filter. You dodn't want to be around certain types of people and they sure as hell don't want to be around you. It's perfect. Now that I don't smoke, I usually ask how they feel about smoking just to expedite things. You generally find one of three attitudes among non-smokers: 1) generally tolerance, 2) anti-smokers who never smoked (most common in my experience), 3) people who used to smoke but stopped (but have general tolerance for those who smoke), and 4) born again people who used to smoke (see Mike a few posts back). The born again types are the WORST. They evangalize about how you should stop smoking because they did and really carry the moral superiority thing too far. They'll even approach you and interupt you during a smoke break (it's okay to blow smoke in their face).
