He's a little crazy. Should I wait around for six years?
  • Army of One

So how does this enlisting process work? Is our military so hard up that no mental evaluation is done at all? Is there maybe any conversation at all about the potential's current living situation (e.g., if the fiancee's on board with it, etc.)?

I would think that this guy would give himself away as unstable during a conversation with a recruiter of any real depth.

But even if he passes, this "thing" about your man will show itself during basic training or certainly within a few months.

So if you want a literal answer to your literal question, I would say, no, you won't be waiting around for anywhere near 6 years.

But you've got an admittedly interesting, but impulsive, nutty guy here, and as a woman who lived with someone much like him for the better part of a decade, I URGE you from the bottom of my urging place (thank you, Comedy Central's "L'il Bush") to save yourself. You still have lots of time to get out there and seek a centered mate. (But time flies....)
