The LW has 5 children with her husband. Neither needs to take time off and they can't take it so it's a bad idea anyway. Your suggestion about her getting legal and financial advice is spot on though. If she can, she should also force her husband to see a therapist. No one can wake up one day and be miserable, too miserable to go on as a father and husband to a family of 6. This guy is either mentally ill or a totally selfish SOB.
Just reading this letter makes my teeth grind together. I want to find the LW's husband and slap him. How dare he pull this 2 weeks after a new baby?
