Differences
He says that you'll be living in poverty in the future, but by your description of him, he is already living in an intentional state of poverty.
I can't help but to wonder if he's this miserly in regard to his emotional affection for you. It sounds like you are good friends, but how are you as partners? (I don't just mean sexually, of course).
It sounds like you have a great life set up for yourself, you are a secure person, can take pleasure in simple things, and have a great circle of friends.
Maybe you and this man would be better as friends? Maybe you can find another man to be in a relationship with, if you desire. These are questions only you can answer.
