kjwldn: Yeah, I'm right there with you (on the fear of poisonous plants)
Here's my conspiracy theory. It's the-world-is-just-so-fucking-dangerous-that's-why-peanuts-are-banned-in-so-many-places-where-my-three-year-old-would-like-to-eat-them apocalypse is nigh development. There are tons of plants that are inedible and/or poisonous to some degree. Yup. Tulip bulbs are poisonous. Hemlock is poisonous. Rhubarb leaves. All that jazz. Some fungi. Lots of things, including oleander.
The nasty neighbor was clearly trespassing, but LW becoming Interfering Neighbor and everyone having a hissyfit at the astounding discovery that not every plant is edible isn't going to fix a thing. Has anyone actually offered to drive the elderly neighbor to the hospital to visit her son? Asked her what would actually be helpful to her? Acted like they like and respect her? Oh, I'll give up now and share some lasagne with my neighbors. They've given me a jump start when my car's battery died, you know?
