For the love off... What this guy is saying is that behind the facade of normalcy he is devastated. And this letter, by the sound of it, is only allowing us a small peek into this person's shattered internal life.
He is shocked to find that he doesn't need to be on drugs, or socially depraved to find that he ends up in deep existential trouble.
My advice is to see a doctor about this immediately, and expose everything. Beyond that, you should seriously consider spirituality, because it's obvious your soul is starved. My advice would be to turn to Christ (it worked for me!), but on the off-chance of appearing that I'm motivated to convert you for selfish reasons, let me just say your soul is suffering; seek solace where you can, but first...
Please, go see a doctor.
