Every two weeks
Have a cleaning service come every two weeks. If you use a firm like merry maids you can trust them to do it while you're at work. There is nothing on earth like coming home to a house that was cleaned while you were away, trust me. It's worth the money.
And I agree with the notion that your living arrangement hints that there is something fundamentally wrong with your relationship.
