It's your choice. Yours alone. Choose the last name you are most comfortable with.
For some folks, retaining their name-identity is more important than everyone in the family having the same last name. For others the reverse is true. Neither is more right than the other.
That said, if I could make the rules, last names would work like this:
1) Nobody would change their name when marrying.
2) Boys would take their dad's last name.
3) Girls would take their mom's last name.
That way, everyone keeps their name from birth to death, the whole patriachal-lineage thing is matched by an equivalent matriachal-lineage, and you don't have the confusion of hyphenations.
