Large families
This letter reminds me of something my dad once told me about growing up in a large family. He told me that this image that politicians like to project of the "good ole days" of large American families embodying everything that is good and wholesome about America is "total bullshit." He said he and his siblings had to literally fight tooth and nail with each other for every little scrap that they got, including the attention of their parents, and that the resentment and pointless competitiveness has carried on even until this day.
