One never knows...my fiance's mother and father married young and they were very happy.
She was 18 and he was 20 and they married in the late 1950s. They truly had one of those fabled one-in-a-million marriages. I doubt that will be the case with this one, but sometimes I have to drop my reflexively cynical attitude and just shrug.

attending the wedding
Don't know if the LW should go to the wedding or not, though from what I see, much of her cringing is understandable.
Just wanted to point out that if people attended weddings only when they fully approved of the matches, or had confidence that the marriages would be happy and long-lasting, there would be some pretty sparse wedding attendance around these parts.

I was a bridesmaid when I was 17 when my big sister, an Ivy League superachiever type, got married. That doesn't mean I followed quickly in Big Sis' footsteps, for better or for worse.
