  • zzz05 i'm writinf this in the assumption you are jewish

so as one jew to another, i address your third paragraph. (sorry to the folks who grow tired of seeing my name at the bottom - i want to talk to these people and while i'm allowed, i will, but for those want to kibbitz, here's the para, "There's a growing feeling that punishing mixed marriages in various ways will not benefit Judaism as much as welcoming them in the hopes that they or their children will find a comfortable home in Judaism.") one might think that if the halachic law were changed that would make things better. i used to think so too. but like the myth that once the sephardi were in large numbers in israel, its relationship with the arabs would be better, time and fact changed that. i've seen that jews of mixed marriages of any sort produce children who do not identify. more indoctrination is the answer? no, who wants to lose the best and the brightest - the atheist seculars? the real problem is that the "welcoming homes", reform, reconstructionist are very like the Universalist Unitarian, who have no beliefs other that "Be Nice" and in all other aspects are christian. here's a not quite quote from the head (pastor?) of a UU church. she was from a mixed marriage (as would seem half of all UU's are) and was bragging about her famous rabbinical ancestors. she then went on to say that the holocaust somehow purified the world by the suffering of the jews. substitute jesus for jews (ahem!) and you get the core christian belief. NOT FOR ME! in america you can piss on your heritage, and most do. i'm unhappy that Israel had to turn into Sparta, but that's what they insist upon. out of 1000 they control 998, we have no choice, except to renounce judaism, if not for ourselves then our children. but as you see from princessita (i added an ess), there are still those, who continue. i think it's noble. and i don't care if others think it pig-headed, primitive and stupid. i LIVE! get over it.
