    testosterone is the culprit

Hair loss is due to excess testosterone and stress can elevate the production of testosterone as well as adrenaline. Basically your adrenals go nuts dealing with the stress. As a hair dresser for 25 years I have learned to help men minimize the issues of hair loss by first getting a haircut that doesn't exaggerate the problem (like leaving too much on the sides or back...kind of an accidental mullet :) ) and trying to make them understand that it is NOT a bad thing these days top be bald or going bald. Many successful, sexy men in the media are bald or balding. Most intelligent women, um people actually, understand that balding isn't a choice and therefore not indicative of a persons character or worth. In short, bald is sexy...if you make it so.
