i relate on some levels to LW. I cannot stand babies or anyone who talks "baby", even to babies, let alone cats, so that would peeve me. but what made me think about the way I view my cats was when a friend and fellow cat person came over and played with my cats...by treating them like cats. dragging string, making silly noises so they would dart their heads and talking to them like "here kitty kitty!". and while the cats did not seen very amused, all i could think of was: "That's so stupid. You're treating them like CATS! (meaning, just any old cat, pet, etc.)" I know, strange reaction. Which is not to say I don't cuddle with my cats, and pet them, etc., I guess I just don't like infantilization on any level.
