Workplace dresscode hypocracy
Women flaunt workplace dresscodes all the time, and I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it. In my own workplace, women routinely show up in sandals, sleeveless blouses, and skirts that come up above their knee. If I came into work in sandals, a tank top, and shorts, I'd be read the riot act by every higher-up who happened to see me. This is just the way it is. Why they allowed to get away with this is beyond me, and any speculation exposes even more hypocracy on behalf of the management and the women who defend such transgressions. The male managers in the office seem to appreciate the fact that their female subordinates are showing more skin, but if they were to say this, they'd get slapped with a sexual harrassment case for objectifying women. Anyone else who complains is a prude, an old fogey, or a tightwad. And of course women aren't given preferential treatment in this regard. Even saying so will expose you to be a horrible oppressor and misogynist.
So is your co-worker inappropriately dressed for work? Absolutely. Are you being uptight? From your tone, I'd say yeah, lighten up a little bit, but I do see where you're coming from. It'd be nice if I could dress more comfortably when I go into the office too, but I'm not afforded such luxrey. And yeah, I've seen the suggestive slogans on women's t-shirts at work too, but most of the women here know better then to cross that line. Still, nobody seems to say anything about it. Couldn't say why though.
Try wearing a t-shirt to work with a picture of a squirrel that says, "Lick my nuts" and see what happens.
