please do not put him outside
O deja vu. I went through a similar experience 10 years ago.I decided to keep a feral kitten from a colony I was trapping and sending to the shelter. He was,is incredibly intelligent and devilishly clever. His main behavior problem was the litter box. He preferred to do his business on the floor. It drove me crazy. I tried everything, held on for 8 years before I decided to take him out and abandoned him. Needless to say, guilt kicked in and I went searching for two weeks, found him and took him back. He became sick and was diagnosed with cancer. I bought an all natural cat litter because of the cancer, guess what, he never had another accident. I think it also helped that I gave up my anger and started to treat him with understanding and kindness. He is living out his last days with me.
I'm not saying this is your problem. Just please do not give up. I see now that I let my anger and frustration cloud my judgement. And believe me, it was very frustrating cleaning cat urine out of your floor everyday for 8 years.I was so angry all of the time that I had no place in my heart for anything else. Please do not let this happen to you.
Contact a behaviorist, a vet, contact a no kill shelter, even consider euthanasia. But please do not put him outside. He could get hit by a car or be attacked by other animals or other people even. These are not the kind of deaths you want for someone you rescued is it?
