I left New York for San Diego and now I don't know where I am

I'm a New Yorker. I don't think Californians really get where I'm coming from.

    I can relate

I get what you're saying about the passive aggression, not to mention the easy acceptance westerners have of all things absurd. I used to absolutely hate those two traits when I lived on the west coast. Then I moved back to CNY, the anti-NYC, and I so miss both of those things. You get tired of people saying whatever pops into their heads, and the easy acceptance of all things difficult and tedious that typifies life in the small NE college town where I live until Thursday, when I move back WEST. Hooray!

"You say there is no perfect place, I say I know this is true; we all just learning how to smile, that's not easy to do--we both live for the day when we can run away." Art Alexakis says it best. To the person who wrote you're a boring asshole wherever you go, you should address that chip on your shoulder. No need to judge a person's decision. Should he stay or should he go--what do you care? The beauty of this life is he could go back to NYC, decide it's not for him, and then go someplace else if he so chooses. That makes him neither boring nor an asshole, just someone who does what he wants.
