The mistake here is that you tried to find a woman as a single-dad with your kids, and all you could find was this loser. Learn from it. Don't do it again.
What he said. What are you even thinking of..? You're grown, you have kids. The kids come first. Especially because it's just you raising them.
Wasting your time with entertaining, flakey women is not something you continue to do after you've dropped anchor. Focus on your children. They depend on you and look up to you more than you imagine.
