Would prefer not shaven...
I have no problems with women not shaving down under. I actually prefer it, and would love to find a women that prefers the same thing. I have trouble finding a woman that will not shave.
I think it is just a preference, I prefer hair I think it feels better.

To me this is no different from shaving your legs. I'm a 24 year old guy and it's somewhat standard for women in my generation to do it. The hairy bush is just... gross in the same ways that men find hairy legs "gross". It might be a cultural thing, or it might be that men don't like feeling a hairy crotch or, worse, getting hair between their teeth. It's like making out with a bearded man.

It looks like a Barbie doll. It looks perverted, like a grown woman is trying to look like a 10-year old. Women, wake up and quit falling for this crap. Nothing's sexier than a full bush. And it's nice on the thighs too.

Full Bush vs. Shaved
I am a 31yr old male living in Ohio. I for one am in favor of the natural look. I will agree with Cary that I think the porn industry has had a lot to do with perception of what woman's vagina should look like. I also agree with your reader's letter when she stated that it looked like a baby's crotch. I have said several times I want a woman not a girl. I have faced the exact opposite problem your reader expressed. The woman I've meet I've asked, I guess I'm bold, but it's my preference and I can't find any natural full bush women. Too bad I don't live in NY. I think she and I would match up, at least on this issue. I also believe that pubic hair on a vagina helps hold in moisture which also adds to the natural scent or natural pheramones. I wish your reader good luck and don't worry their are men that are very attracted to a woman just as beautiful the way God made her. When I was thirteen, a girlfriend of mine came to visit from another country. She had just entered puberty and subsequently had the beginings of underarm hair. I didn't notice this until we arrived at the mall and she became the target of three eighteen year old guys who had seen her arm hair under her short sleeve top. Because she didn't speak english, she couldn't understand them and didn't really notice. But they were staring and calling us names. Insults like 'hairy dogs!', and 'she needs a razor', 'shave your armpits', 'are you a guy?' loudly and rudely. I was young and I didn't stick up for myself even though I was furious. We left.
Since then I have always always had a disdain for this double standard placed on women. It's not that guys ask, it's that some guys expect it and as some pig-headed replies here prove the reaction is 'it's normal now, if you don't do it, you 're a freak, and gross.' It's the shame you feel if you don't conform, like that day when I was thirteen, that bothers me.
As woman I'm expected to shave my armpits, my legs, my fanny and my bush, practically everywhere except my head-- but men can be as hairy as they please all over their body with the exception of their faces. What? How is that fair? Okay so no one is making me do this, I haven't got a gun to my head. But the experience with my friend proved, either I conform or get stares, jeers and general put downs from not only the opposite sex but my own gender. Um, no.
I have a lovely boyfriend now who accepts my yeti like qualities without question. However I generally keep my face and legs free of hair even though its really painful. But for the even more painful areas-- if he wants me to shave my armpits he can shave his. If he wants me to get a brazillian he can get a sack back and crack.
Ladies, shave trim or wax at your discretion, and lose the guy if you're not comfortable doing that, but don't get bullied into doing it or shamed into conforming.

Shaving
I did a complete shave in 2003 and loved it so much I kept shaving. I feel cleaner and men perfer it because of hygiene during oral sex. Most women in other countries use wax and I tried it but it is time consuming and messy. I have cut myself a time or two but once you get the hang of it it is a breeze. I think most men find it an incredible turn on. It definitely eliminates a lot of odor problems due to urine. You could go for a landing strip if you dont like being completely bare.
