  • a lofty goal, perhaps, but imagine her parents' disappointment

I'm kind of excited that my codeine-coated logic makes so many people so angry. You've let me affect your life and your mood! If i''m (sic) such a stupid irrelevant bitch, that shouldn't happen!

  • Talk about your bitchfest

I, too, find it interesting how easily "she's a bitch" has been tossed around here. Very interesting, if not altogether surprising. And laughable--kinda like college freshmen finding that they can say "bullshit" in the football stadium at their very first game without threat of detention and are so impressed with themselves that they just keep doing it.

Whether or not one can rough it without heat is not the issue. The issue is very simply: where does he go to find shelter?

If one has friends who live close by, then they are who you call first. Common sense, people. A sane person does not make an ordinarily 30 minute trip during a blizzard when there are other options to be considered first. If I've lost heat in my house, I'm going to go to a neighbor's house before I trek across town to be with my best friend. To do otherwise is nonsensical and--might I add--dangerous.

But he's hot in the ass to make this trip to her house FIRST without regard to his safety. He's an idiot...and one, based on his sandbox whining, who wants to be more than a friend.

  • -- Climb down from that cross, pedastal or high horse

Cool name. Since it's your permanent Salon-dues-paying name it assumes that whenever you post you've got a built-in retort. Kind of a "plus one" rejoinder to anything anyone else says. Probably impresses the chicks. A little too wordy for me...being nailed to a croos would preclude 'climbing down.' I could simply step off a pedestal, although it might necessitate a small jump instead. One technically dismounts from a horse. Anyway, I'm thinking of sending Salon some money so I can name myself "No Backsies." Then I'd win every argument whenever I posted.

Incidentally, you might want to be careful using terms such as "common sense." We do have a resident law student (she'll fill you in on her resume in her next post, she always does). She takes great umbrage to any term that can be parsed with all the blunderbluss of a typical first year student. She's on codeine, sans boyfriend, and has the whole week off, so she's in a Mood. She also loves to paint with a very broad brush, so wear an old shirt, because it gets messy. Life is tough when all one has to fall back on is a trust fund, so go easy.

  • Oh! Now my parents are in this too! :)

    1) Why i'm on codeine is none of your business, but let's just say that a) it's not for entertainment purposes, and 2) if i didn't have to be on it right now, i'd be out and about in NYC, not sitting at home with the internet, NPR and my law books as my only entertainment.

    2) Not only do you insult me, you insult my boyfriend, and now you've brought my parents into it. Wouldn't it just be easier to actually refute one of my arguments? And why do you bring up that i'm in law school all the time? even i don't bring it up as often as you do. are you JELLY??? hMMMM? JealouS ??? Prolly. :)

    3) It seems that other people, not just selfish law school bitches, also think the LW was, or at least, could have been, right in waht she did in this situation.

    4) " She takes great umbrage to any term that can be parsed with all the blunderbluss of a typical first year student." I doubt you know any first-year law students.

    5) " Life is tough when all one has to fall back on is a trust fund, so go easy." Oh, i would be ashamed if i were you. Or about to be ashamed.

Because i've grown up with something diametrically opposed to a trust fund - political asylum immigration to the US. Remember how i said i was a foreigner? Uh, so, my family, and now you've implicated them all, the stupid bitches that we are, with our 2 suitcases and $700 to start in the US, have made more of ourselves than, it seems, you have, being born here.

This ain't no "poor-me" story -- i'm not poor any more at all, but you probably should feel pretty stupid, since you were born here, probably with a nice american name, no accent when you speak english, your parents' wisdom about living in the US, perhaps even a small network of people who can help you get hired here, or move there, or whatever. And yet, you have a job that requires so little of your mental energy that you have all the time in the world to yell at people on Salon Letters. You didn't go to law school, or medical school, or possibly, any school except high school. So don't be angry at me, be angry at yourself for being a loser. Life gave you a pile of cash, and you decided to take a nap, and it got stolen from you. :)

  • And the future lawyer looks down her nose at people who are not going to law school.

My you must be the best person here...after all you go to law school.

I realy had no problem with your coments untill this one. Do you truly belive you are better than others becuse you aspire to be a lawyer?

  • Is all of this attacking absolutely necessary?

So, you don't like someone else's response - is it necessary to call them names, insult their intelligence, profession, gender and whatever else?

Whatever happened to have civilized disagreements?

Everyone has differing notions of what it means to be hospitable. Yours works for you, great. Obviously, a lot of people have issues with the LW's notion of hospitality (or lack thereof) - that's fine, too . What I don't understand is why everyone feels like it's okay to tear out each others' throats, or insult each other.

The original letter *was* sad - but watching this thread de-evolve into bickering nastiness is almost as sad.

  • ENOUGH ALREADY LECASTOR

Who the hell do you think you are - the moderator of this response to CARY'S column? You have posted and posted and reposted and reposted the same thoughts. We GET it. Now shut the fuck up. The codeine is clouding your ability to think straight or else you are just simply screwed up in the head. One way or the other, get a freaking life and find another place to unload your umpteen inane opinions. Once was quite enough.

God. Don't you get it? No - of course not! You'll post a response to this, too.

What a bore. Get a life. Please.
