Va-va-voom hair and Rick Perry's jerk factor

A round table on Palin's first national press conference: "Conflicted about your prize pony much, GOP?"

Repub governers association

I could tell she wanted so much to call the Repub governers association a Team of Mavericks.

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:13 PM

Ugh...

She's still so full of crap.

She wants to "bring back the change"--what the hell does that mean??????????

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:20 PM

Whoa!

There were a few "gonnas" instead of going to, but otherwise she did not drop a single "G". No sing-song, no fake Fargo accent. All of that stuff made her appear even more stupid than she really is. While she is still rather incoherent, taking forever to say nothing, at least she doesn't have that cadence that made me grit my teeth.

Perry looked so rude and officious. I agree, that little grimace, as she experienced his interference, is the most real I have seen her act. Did she immediately say something there about having had press conferences for some time in Alaska? I thought she did, and I bet it was bit of a reaction to that.

I can't stand the woman. I want her to go away. But if they had at least had her sound as she did here, somewhat competent, somewhat less exotic, she might have gone over better.

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:31 PM

Not so much

I dunno; I even without the (yes, molar-grindingly annoying) accent, she still doesn't sound too bright. She basically repeats key phrases in response to all questions. Gee, would those be the scripted talking points which she said, the other day, she didn't like to do?

*sigh* Will we EVER get rid of this woman?

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:33 PM

Wow.

Palin and Perry on stage together...two of my least favorite politicians in one place. Put Bush or Cheney in there and I could have had a trifecta.

The thing that strikes me as a Texas resident is how little Perry seems to be liked by anyone. If only the Texas Democratic Party had had a stronger candidate in 2006. Chris Bell wasn't horrible, but he wasn't great. Where one strong candidate might have knocked Perry off, you had three candidates splitting the vote.

Still, Palin-Perry 2012, the possibilities boggle the mind. They'd have the hair-stylist vote sewed up between them.

p.s. Doug_id

A unique team of mavericks and Palin is the most uniquest.

Thought she sounded low-key, sunk into the realization that the Neiman Marcus glass slipper didn't fit.

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:35 PM

Please notice this:

This pressed conference speaks for itself (barely), so I'll just say this: Cool jacket!

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:36 PM

My god, she's boring

She uses so many words to say so very little.

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:37 PM

As those of us in TX know...

Rick Perry has his own history of va-va voom hair pride. I think I sensed some jealousy. Or maybe the remnants of a GOP locker-room fight over product.

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:39 PM

That was awesome...shove Bible Spice out of the way

send that jerk back to Alaska & hopefully Jesus will send a polar bear & some wolves to eat her.

One good thing about Rick Perry

He always makes me fondly remember Molly Ivins, who dubbed him Governor Goodhair.

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:40 PM

Rick Perry

Molly Ivins used to call him "Governor Good-hair." It embarrasses me that my fellow Texans continue to elevate such boorish clods to high office. But hey, Texas: it's like a whole 'nother country!

Thursday, November 13, 2008 02:53 PM

His patronizing move...

...masks the real set up. He/they had obviously made a deal with one or two reporters pre-interview to call on them in exchange for a softball question. The last question "what message are your trying to convey?" is about as stupid a question a reporter could ever ask, thus Perry's desire to step in and so forcefully make sure that particular reporter got the final question.

Disappearring Accent

Tracy-

The accent has been documented as fleeting

The makeup artist was worth it

Sarah does trowel it on like a.......

She should be careful, she starting to look a little drag queen-y.

Sarah Still Attracting Crowds!

Amazing how people can't stand her but they can't seem to stop watching every interview she gives - whether it be only to criticize, as is always the case, but they still watch.

I guess there is nothing more important to watch or she just keeps attracting the crowds...every channel wants her on their show (for ratings, of course).

Rick Perry

Living in Texas can attest that (1) he's not the brightest bulb, (2) he'll say anything to get elected, (3) has an ego the size of Texas (infamous tape of him telling an officer "don't you know who I am" when getting pulled over for a ticket) - and I think has aspirations to run for President. In last election he promised to reduce property taxes - instead no reduction - but is spending tens of thousands on revamping governor's mansion and his monthly digs. Impossible to point to one thing he has accomplished. With his plastic hair am sure Mr. Palin will be ready to run him over with a snow mobile for messin' with his woman. .

Thursday, November 13, 2008 03:44 PM

Gov. MoFo

Another Texan here (fifth generation). Rick Perry is naturally obnoxious, but his treatment of Palin is undoubtedly grounded in his own higher political ambitions, namely the Presidency. This despite his own failing popularity in Texas: he was re-elected in 2006 with less than 40% of the votes cast and his poll ratings show well over 50% of Texans disapprove of his performance as governor.

His most notorious moment came when, following a videotaped interview and thinking the camera was off, he signed out with "Adios, MoFo...".

... and same to you, Sarah Palin.

America, for shame!

I'm sorry but as a Canadian I have one question to ask:

How pathetically incompetent for public office does one have to display in order to disqualify one for public office?!

It is *stunning* to me and my friends in Britain (where I live and work at the moment) that this woman is *conceivably* presidential material by anyone with a brain larger than a microbe.

Please, I thought America grew up with the election of Barack Obama...and we all pray that he was not a fiction...but this...this is beyond the pale!

Thursday, November 13, 2008 05:26 PM

Her hair is totally rogue-y

Any way, without anyone (of sense) to prop her up, she's going to self destruct or be relegated a puppet for eternity. The signs of confusion are all there.

Oh well, I betcha First Dude Todd and even jerk-wad Perry like her hair that way. It has "fuck me hard" written all over it.

Thursday, November 13, 2008 11:37 PM

What's Wrong With Palin's Hair?

You would look different too if your $10,000/week stylist was taken away.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27364669/

Plus she's running a really big, energy producing state again, so she doesn't have time for wardrobes or hairstyles or preparing for press conferences, and other silly stuff like that.
