Should Obama have picked Hillary?

Did the GOP just co-opt the Democrats' chance at making history? Sarah Palin, a conservative, antiabortion, pro-NRA Republican may just be the first woman in the White House.

The letters thread is now closed.

Now I KNOW you're a bullshit artist

Obama made the right choice. picking Hillary would have made him look a weak supplicant.

You're mistaken. Not picking her made him look weak.

There is NO WAY the above comment can be true.

For Obama to have picked Hillary would have meant he bent to the will of the old disrespected order and to a bunch of whining women. It would have meant he is a knee jerk decision maker.

I have to admit, I knew nothing about Biden before this since I refuse to listen to ANYTHING the two criminal families running Washington (Dumcrap/ Repulsican) say. But AFTER Obama made his choice, I was impressed with Biden's rhetorical potential-- his history, inner sense of fight, expertise. The guy was MADE for this VP role, a choice which only reflected POSITIVELY on Mr. Barack.

Hillary has baggage aplenty, a bad stink on her from her husband and her own nasty attitudes, on and on.

For you to say she would have been a good VP pick ignored that her negative ratings are sky high and that Americans are fed up with the Bushes and the Clintons running this nation (into the ground) for a third of a century, as if there is no one else worthy of the slot in a nation of 325 million people.

Hillary is batshit shrill and felt severely entitled WHICH REPELLED MANY. Anyone supporting her is, well...

Lolcait just keeps backing down....

Lolcait made the claim that Obama didn't visit wounded troops during his summer travels.

I provided over a half-dozen links containing evidence that showed: (1) Obama DID visit wounded troops, just without cameras running; (2) the one time Obama DID NOT visit the troops was at the request of the Pentagon; and (3) Even John McCain has admitted all of the above.

Then I challenged Lolcait to admit he/she was caught in a falsehood.

Lolcait has been studiously silent on the matter. Why? Because Lolcait can't handle being caught in a lie.

But, Lolcait, you did get caught in a lie. I can't stand people who attempt to score points off of things they know are false. That's scum-of-the-earth behavior. I just want you to know, you have been caught, it has been noted, and everybody here is welcome to refer to this moment again and again any time you show your dishonest face on Salon.com.

Obama should have seen this coming

I can readily understand that the Obama camp didn't want to engage in reverse sexism by choosing a woman just because she was a woman. Maybe twenty million intelligent people would have taken that badly.

But I can even more easily understand that the McCain camp pounces on Obama's choice of a male partner, and considers that although twenty million intelligent people is a lot, two hundred million people who won't think this through but who will be struck by a symbolic gesture, is more.

When Obama chose Biden I thought to myself, "Now we'll see if the Republicans want to win. If they do, they'll pick Palin and the election will be all but over." And I bet money on that, too, on Intrade. But I must say I would have preferred to lose my bet.

I'd like to add a few additional arguments to Rebecca's article, with which I totally agree.

McCain abandoned his first wife and cusses his second? "Yeah but at least he chose a woman running mate, which is more than Obama did."

Obama is the candidate of change? "Then why did he choose the ultimate Washington insider, while McCain chose a young woman from Alaska."

This is a disaster for the Obama campaign but it really is their own fault. They should have seen this coming. It's not as if the Republicans wanted to wage their campaign on policy proposals. They've been substituting easy to understand symbols from the very beginning.

So many more powerful potential choices

MicSane could have picked for vee pee Condi Rice or Colin Powell or Jennifer Granholm, Bill Richardson, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Ron Paul, Mitt Fucking Romney, the list just goes on.

SO many choices. Did they all run the OTHER WAY away from MicShame when he approached them? Is the Bush STINK THAT POWERFUL?

So, he picks the only one not running away from him, the kewpie doll.

People will see it for what it is. They will feel annoyed and anxious for being considered THAT stupid, they will STILL probably hold their nose and pull the lever for McGame. But that will be to latent racism alone.
