There's a difference between a 'pro' and a kept woman

Everyone knows that. So stop wearing your Cotton Mather suits for a sec.

This makes sense

What IS the Sport of KINGS?

Go read some Bin Laden. They made us read it in college. They being the liberal elites obviously (tounge halfway in cheek). 9/11 was my first week on campus.

The passages which I remember the most were about how he was all pissed about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky - and how it reflected our larger culture.

But, all the liberals in America, who have never read Bin Laden, want to blame Bush for 9/11. Which makes no sense.

This is starting to make sense.

Given that Bin Laden is a King Among Kings, the Bushes and the Sauds, and was fed billions in CIA and US gov't. funds during and after the Afghan war. Given that the CIA needed its "bad man" character to act as the foil to launch the Middle East wars, of course bin Laden will write in the 'outsider' Bill Clinton into the narrative. The Kings are largely amoral conservatives, so of course, the libertine Clinton gets trashed. NEVER MIND that Arab and Bush families and all their lackeys ALL entertain the company of whores their whole lives.

The engines of society do their thing

Now, I look back on my college career and I have my regrets. But they're nothing compared to what these chicks are going to remember about their college experience. Those expensive shoes and handbags will all have withered away - and they'll be left with the knowledge that they were prostitutes.

.

The girls rationalize the easy life that is glamourous to them. A guy covering all their expenses? FABULOUS. Nothing ever changes.

And it gives future feminists new fodder to whing at the poor guys just trying to live their lives.

What is truly sad

is women feel cheated when they GIVE love freely.

no wonder so many men think so little of women when this is the calculus.

@Brightstar

How can I pass that up?

No Louboutins?

No, sir, you will wear a maid's uniform with Nikes, just like the rest of my concubines, and you will be equipped with your own broomstick--the only difference being that you will not be allowed to use it as a form of transport like the others, because yours will be strictly for janitorial work.

The more I read the original article, the more I think it may be a PR stunt for the sugar daddy Web site, or even a prank of some kind. For why would the guy TELL her that he was on the sugar daddy web site? I would think he would want to hide this information from her. Even if it was true, why would he let her know that he was still advertising there?

The supposed author, is, after all, a public relations major!

Just go read his work and reach your own conclusions. Don't jump to them without doing research. That's smallminded.

Amigo

you and others hit it on the head. I just now realized that of course it must be a marketing ploy.

It is not exactly a secret that a slew of new dating sites are hitting certain angles, the sugar daddy one being one of them.

Nonsense

This story is a bunch of nonsense. I don't know if it's a book proposal or an experiment for a sociology class, but it's certainly not true.

Think about it, folks: a recruiter made this proposition at an ON-CAMPUS interview? Do you know what the consequences would be if she reported this? First, the entire company would be banned from recruiting. Second, the interviewer would be fired immediately (and probably sued by his firm) for sexual harassment. Third, the university ITSELF could get sued for allowing this to happen, meaning lawyers would insist on holding sexual harassment workshops, outraged campus women's groups would (quite rightly) hold protests, the MSM would cover it, etc.

And that's just for starters. Many things (which I won't bother enumerating unless asked) simply don't ring true.

"Melissa Beech" should have called herself "Helen Troy": the face that launched a thousand blog posts.

Yes it's prostitution

But people sell lots of parts of themselves for what they need/want. And why is prostitution such a terrible thing? Why shouldn't women trade their resources for someone else's resources? I think the fact that prostitution is illegal in a "free" society is absurd anyway. You can give it away but you can't sell it? Why does the government have that power?

So what's the difference between this and marriage?

If she married the "sugar daddy" in question and had a similar arrangement (he paid for her college fees etc.) would everyone be so judgmental?

It doesn't seem much different

Than any other relationship where the man makes more money than the woman and has all of the control. His reasons for just wanting to set her up financially is that he doesn't want a woman making any demands on him. He said to her that his previous relationships the women wouldn't understand that his job comes first and then they'd end up resenting each other.

So he pays her to be there when he wants her and gives her plenty of money to hang out with her friends and be free to do her school and internship. Sort of a don't call me, I'll call you arrangement. So if she needs to go to the hospital or one of her parents or friends get deathly ill, I don't think she can call him up to run to her side.

I also don't think it's far fetched about the website considering there was the TV show Millionaire Matchmaker where the millionaire's income had to be verified before the matchmaker would start to begin the process of finding women for him to date.

What she gets out of it is travel, money, gifts and business contacts. I don't think she plans on making a "career" out of being a mistress, but I certainly don't think once she's graduated and started her career that she's going to date average income guys, she's shallow and desirous of expensive material goods and it's going to take her years if ever in the career she's chosen to make 7 figures a year. She'll just find a man who makes a lot of money and wants more of a relationship than a mistress.

Is it prostitution, to an extent I suppose but not much more than women who'll date rich men exclusively. If she wants to trade real love and devotion for likeable feelings nice vacations and expensive handbags I can't really blame her or him when love is pretty hard to come by anyway. She's just not someone who's values I share, I find the pursuit of material object pointless. I don't care about fancy designer clothes and accesories and big homes and while the travel is something I'm envious of, I can see London or Atlantic City just fine without staying in the poshest hotel in town and I'm more than willing to save and be patient.
