...A great first step would be a definite statement from Mr. Obama in favor of gay marriage, especially in light of the 30,000 or so suddenly-no-longer married couples in California.
the Evil Grand Bushista is leaving, I'm peeing rainbows.
then we will be uber super mega ultra cool to the world.
Sept. 11 gave us the desperate grope for end-of-days closeness dubbed "terror sex."
No, actually, it didn't: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/babyboom.asp
I know, I know, you have to write SOMEthing every day.
But maybe one kind of inspiration we could take from Obama would be his desire to govern based on on verifiable facts, instead of gut feelings, or treating a couple of anecdotes as "data."
Barack Obama was born on November 4 1961, JFK was elected on November 8 1960.
Almost exactly nine months to the day.

That's not even close to nine months; it's almost twelve.
Twenty one years ago, I chose to become a Jew. Part of the conversion process is to choose a Jewish name.
I must have divined the future, for I chose Barack: lightning in both Hebrew and Arabic. Even legally changed my name eighteen years ago to my Jewish name. Kept my original first name.
Now I'm hip, slick, and cool. Even grew up in Hyde Park. So I can really call Barak a homie.....
Scott Barack Abraham, cool before it was cool to be a Barack.
It's like, we won the revolution, so it's now time to get down and have some fun! Whoopie!
Then I read Mr Greenwald's last post... and feel sad again. Vanitas vanitatum...
and I'm sure that's not the formal term for it, has been around as a recognized phenom of war zones for at least one hundred years (Gunter Grass famously wrote about the indiscriminate humping going on in the air raid shelters of German cities). The New Yorker wrote about it occurring during the Bosnian war. I'm not sure why it happens--but I bet psychologists have written something about it.
It's very weird though--I would imagine that sex would be the last thing on people's minds when under that much stress? Apparently not.
My husband and I got a kitten on the day of the election. Although many people suggested he be named Obama, it didn't seem to fit him (although he is half black, half white, and has big ears!) And it seemed slightly disrespectful to the Pres-elect in any case. Kitten is now named Audacity, Audie for short. It's nice to feel hope for a change.
