The Palin problem

After weeks of declaring that she's their girl, conservatives are expressing doubts about McCain's V.P. pick.

The letters thread is now closed.

Only one?

Yep, you are the only one who feels bad for her - I have no pity at all.

Palin Serves a Purpose for McCain

Sarah Palin helps McCain shore up his base and that was all that mattered as long as she got a pass from the American public. Now, everyone is getting more scrutiny thanks to the economic crisis, even McCain, and the results haven't been pretty. When you ask Palin obvious, fair questions you get a lot of verbal diarrhea.

McCain's reaction has been to bluster and attck the journalists who are doing their job. That's not a pretty picture either, especially when the journo in question is Katie Couric. Katie Couric is a "gotcha" journalist? Really? I think she's a lightweight and McCain appears to simply be setting up a minimally successful narrative that everyone is in the tank for Obama because thehy demand answers from Palin.

feeling sorry

The only ones I feel sorry for are her childdren, who Palin has no problem using for her furtherment.

Oh, and I feel sorry for all the qualified conservative republican women, who were overlooked to find this fresh piece of moose dung from Alaska.

And the American people - yeah, I feel sorry for the Americans who feel pain at the de-evolution of our country - but we are used to it having endured increasing levels of disaster over the last 8 years.

No Pity

She's taken it upon herself to accept a position that would grant her almost unimaginable power over her fellow country-people. I'm worried she was picked, I'm relieved she reveals herself inept BEFORE the election.

No pity. If you feel sorry for her, lock yourself in a room to re-examine your priorities until you get them straightened out.

Setting back women as VP?

Is anybody else worried that Sarah Palin failing as VP choice will set women back? I'm afraid that the major parties will avoid picking a qualified female for president or vice-president because of this. It could set us back another 20 years....

feel bad for her?

No.

I find her view of the world to be abhorant. She largly holds a facist view of the world. I don't give a fuck about her affinity for gutting animals. She's a Fundamentalist Christian who believes dinosaurs and people lived at the same time?! (Land of the Lost, anyone?...now that I think of it, has anyone asked her her opinions on Sleestacks?)

She entered the national stage by trashing...get this, community organizers. Is there a more righteous, underpaid worthy profession? No.

And by the way, I don't cringe when I hear McCain sputter 30 year old talking points, either. They represent corrupt corporate/christian power, who's only successful stragey is to lie, lie, and lie...and, yes, they are what is wrong with America.

Pity party for Palin?

"and I feel sorry for all the qualified conservative republican women, who were overlooked to find this fresh piece of moose dung from Alaska." Ditto. Well said.

I have no pity for someone who puts woefully undeserved power over family and woefully undeserved power over what is actually good for the country and the people in it. Sorry. Can't do it. Doesn't matter if she has a vagina or not -- she wasn't qualified, she should not have been asked, she has embarrassed not only the republican party, but the nomination and election process itself by turning it into a pageant.

I Pity the Fool...

...who gets herself so out of her league that her "supporters" are calling for her withdrawal.

No, but really, I mostly feel embarrassed: for her, and for our country--I can only imagine how non-Americans are viewing this craptacular campaign. (Please, foreigners, we are not all like this woman, I promise.)

It speaks volumes about the judgment of a candidate who is so power-hungry that she would jump at the chance to be veep, despite the fact that she is nowhere near ready to hold the position. (Not to mention how this reflects on the McCain campaign for even considering this woman.) If she can't make appropriate decisions for herself, how can she possibly make a decent decision for the whole country?

I would have had a lot more respect for Palin--despite the fact that I don't agree with any of her positions--had she declined the nomination based on her inexperience, not based on her familial obligations. How hard would it have been for her to say she wanted to remain focused on governing Alaska, and then use that time to develop her skills in areas she is lacking (like, you know, everything but hunting)?

This is only the third election in which I am eligible to vote. I will freely admit my lack of knowledge on elections prior to my adulthood. That being said, can anyone tell me if the vice presidential nominee has ever been changed this late in the game, and how did it bode for that campaign?

I pity all of us if enough of us vote for McCain/Palin.

I wish I could say, as our country dies, "Forgive them, Father, they knew not what they were doing."

But McCain voters voted for Bush and Wall Street is collapsing as we're mired in two foreign wars. So, McCain voters do know what they're doing in voting for McSame and if McSame wins, the rest of us will suffer for the neocons' sins.

And as we suffer, I won't have any "Forgive them, Father..." in me.

Women aren't that way- we aren't unified like that

"When someone of your gender or race (or however else you choose to identify yourself) has a historic chance to be in a position of power, but for whatever reason, you don't support him or her, you find yourself with a lot of explaining to do."

That has not been my experience these last few weeks. I have gotten more shit for saying I was going to vote for Palin. Evidently if you are an Indie or Dem that votes Rep for the sake of promoting women you are the new troll if online. All of your RL friends will also shun you as having gone over to the dark side. Conversations will stop as you come up, black looks will follow you as you move on. It ain't pretty. I recommend all women just go with the flow and vote for whoever your friends are voting for. Makes life much easier. Course, we will remain forever at the bottom, but who cares, at least we will all be at the bottom together.
