Gets right to the Republican core theme:

"Women shouldn't be making decisions."

Looking forward to the MSM's truth-squadding these deliberate falsehoods. But not exactly holding my breath.

But does anybody have the guts to describe how these ads were funded, and whether it was a 527 that produced these ads?

Planned Parenthood.org is listed at the end. Was it the sole funding and production source?

Agree with the message, but...

video was like a bad SNL skit.

Planned Parenthood should put Sarah Haskins on the case.

discretion? misplaced shame?

Interesting that the ad places the woman inquiring about an abortion out of sight...

Choices?

If you're absolutely sure you positively do not want to contract an STD of any sort and you're also doubly sure you do not want to become pregnant or father a child, how many choices do you have?

Screw common sense, let's gamble! ;)

@Elephantman

The answer to your question requires no guts, just a little Google:

As Planned Parenthood states here -- http://www.ppaction.org/campaign/housepartyvideo/sidgii44i3t86w?source=housepartyvideo_ppole1 --

the video was funded by Brave New Pac, associated with the Brave New Foundation:

http://www.bravenewfoundation.org/ .

Hope that's helpful.

Excellent

Excellent. I hope PP got some good Ad buys. I will send them a check today.

Re: Abortion seeker on the phone

I think it made it more powerful for the woman seeking an abortion to make a phone call. The other women seeking information were just inconvenienced, annoyed, and incredulous. The woman that is to be stuck with an unwanted pregnancy is probably devastated -- it makes it stronger to keep the reaction in the viewers' heads.

@Editor - Thanks for removing my post!

The truth hurts sometimes, don't it?

re: Kufir's message

I have to agree with kufir here (well, sort of). Removing his message is a sign of weakness. I realize that his earlier message was ignorant, ridiculous, and over the top, but that's all the more reason to keep it up. It's educational to see how foolish and reactionary the "conservatives" can be.

Surely our own progressive ideas can stand up to such obnoxious overstatement. As a matter of fact, I was under the impression that open discourse and freedom of expression WERE progressive principles.

I just renewed my Planned Parenthood membeship.

I still find it amazing that some people (women or men) declare "I'm pro-choice, but I plan to vote for John McCain".

If you vote for John McCain, then you are NOT pro-choice.

Absolute safety

If you're absolutely sure you positively do not want to be the victim of a car accident, how many choices do you have? Never get in a car. Never consult Consumer Reports on the crash test results for different makes and models. Never wear seat belts. Disable those airbags. Just don't drive!

Problem solved.

Choices?

If you're absolutely sure you positively do not want to contract an STD of any sort and you're also doubly sure you do not want to become pregnant or father a child, how many choices do you have?

Screw common sense, let's gamble! ;)

And if despite the risks you choose to drive anyway...

...and you are in an accident, please don't expect some ambulance to come and try to rescue you. Once we start rescuing people who willingly choose dangerous behaviors like driving, we will just be encouraging them to drive more.

In fact, the government should start putting big holes in the roads to make sure that drivers are too scared to drive.

@marcparis

To continue your analogy:

Oh, don't forget those pedestrians who are sometimes injured by, say, drivers crashing through a building,or plowing through a crowded sidewalk. For those victims, we have lots of sympathy, but alas, no medical care, either. Since the injury involved a car and cars are immoral.
