At least their old job was benefitial to their community. Their new job - one could argue the opposite.
Some necessary jobs aren't overly dignified. That's how the world works. Disagreeing will highlight your ignorance.
In other words - now there's marginally more poo floating around India and a few women walking 200 steps in Bryant Park. I'm not sure if this is a victory for humankind.
Let's see?..I just read the enterprisingly incisive line "I doubt, though, that a runway show is the best way to communicate the plight of the estimated 340,000 scavengers. "
Well, Miss Clark-Flory?....did any of the folks organzing this "event" in any way or to any degree CLAIM that they thought their "event" (whatever you want to call it) was "the best way to communicate the plight of the estimated 340,000 scavengers"?
I don't think so. You certainly don't provide the slightest proof that they were vaunting themselves in regard to this runway show.
Everything else aside, they've at least done SOMETHING.
What have you done lately?...except be more "aware" and "conscious" and "informed" than just about anyone else who does anything else?
I know....you do stay busy....I just read that your young and very pretty eyes are "bulging" at the overwhelming stupidity and ignorance of the people you're discussing.
I suppose that must be somewhat of a relief from your usual inclination to "tear my hair out" or "scratch my face off" (Idon't use quotation marks by accident) at (once again)the overwhelming stupidity and ignorance of everyone else.
once again, I'll ask....what have you actually done lately?... except get-paid to write snarky paragraphs for a supposedly "feminist" San Francisco online publication?
It's an interesting question.....
sincerely,
david terry
Fashion shows are what The Beautiful People do in India. Showing untouchables in that context is a great idea.
Sssshhh! careful now, you're actually discussing other cultures in their own context rather than white upper middle class America's. BIG no no on Broadsheet.
