Well, I'm sure your clip is quite fascinating

But not all of us have the luxury of being able to sit around and watch blathering talking heads. This is not a television site. Post a transcript for god's sake. It's faster to read a transcript and gets us into less trouble at work.

I'm so sick of these stupid "look at my fascinating video clip" posts. Watching you talk is not fascinating.

All a video posting does

is send me to another site to READ a story about this.

Videos

meow meow meow.

I dont mind the videos. It took all of 90 seconds of my life to watch; plus I got to see a pic of the hypocrite moron.

Personally I hate to read the all the whining in the comments about the videos.

No Watch, Read

Most pro-lifers are hypocrites

Everybody who says that abortion is wrong, but okay in cases of rape or incest, is a hypocrite. How can abortion be wrong if the foetus isn't a person with rights? And how can killing a person with a right to live be okay if that person was conceived through rape or incest? Is it okay to kill a born baby that was conceived through rape? People who say that "life begins at conception" are hypocrits if they don't support bans on birth control pills and IUD's which allow conception but prevent implantation. And any so-called pro-lifer who supports the death penalty is an obvious hypocrite.

Right wingers have no problems with hypocrisy, but even if they did, most of them have never thought through the implications of their views of abortion.

Like me for see Ms Tracy...

especial after give her this week Svutlana first red star! Thank you one time again, Ms Tracy.

That be said, never trust Svutlana people who seem for hold on little bit too tight for belief as if this is thread that hold them together. When catch hypocrite, excuse is always entertain. Who give $300 to girlfriend for doctor visit as if say go find yourself something nice in blood test or urine sample?

he's lying

The proof that he's lying is in his explanation of the photos of a Mexico vacation. For one, he offers two choices to explain why the photos don't prove he's lying: "Maybe they were taken before the abortion, I dunno.." and "Oh what a coincidence that she was in the same place in Mexico on vacation the same time I went there!" The second excuse is the real give-away, because .. yeah, right. So he's just made himself sound like a real creep, and he tooootally could have played this up to reinforce his pro-life creds.

Remember, this is the group that doesn't think it's hypocritical at all if the reason you want to take away all women's right to choose is because you had an abortion that you then regretted. He could even make some kind of commercial showing images of a kid playing in the yard or hugging their dad and saying that it will always haunt him, and tear up a little bit on camera, and his base would just eat it up. Now they probably just think he's a lying jackass hypocrite.

Ehhhh

Believe me, I'm all for gotchas of hypocrisy with Republicans whose views I disagree with. But this isn't really all that gotcha-y. It's entirely plausible that a person can be pro-choice until being forced to make that choice. I also think it's very dangerous to expect every politician to never be allowed to change his or her mind on a given topic. If the allegation is true, Erickson doesn't help his case by denying any of this happened, but that's a separate issue from what I'm concerned about.

(Incidentally, I, too, could do without the videos. It adds no value.)

Friday, June 27, 2008 11:50 AM

That would be true if...

I also think it's very dangerous to expect every politician to never be allowed to change his or her mind on a given topic.

Fair enough, but did he change his mind? Hmm. Is he now pro choice for others facing his dilemma?

Friday, June 27, 2008 12:46 PM

But he's still a LIAR

If he said it haunted him and as he grew older, he regretted the abortion and changed his mind, he wouldn't come across as such a LIAR. His denials just show him up to be more of a liar. Every woman who reads this story knows he is lying about several things.

lying

Oh yeah, that goes without saying, he's still a lying sleezeball no matter what he says, unless he was to get down on his knees and repent and vow to support the right to abortion even though it means he may be martyred for it by the "pro-life".

Friday, June 27, 2008 01:43 PM

Isn't that the very definition of a hypocrite?

"It's entirely plausible that a person can be pro-choice until being forced to make that choice."

Transcripts

Meow meow meow my butt.

I'm very happy some people are able to watch the video and then casually dismiss any flack for transcripts as whining. Those of us who are deaf don't have any options for viewing Ms. Clark-Flory's message without some sort of transcription.

Do Salon vloggers sit around wondering how else they can oppress people not like them?

Friday, June 27, 2008 09:50 PM

and a month ago...

This story came out a few days before the Oregon Primary, which was May 20th. And Erickson still won. It was all over the local news here in Portland leading up to the Primary. (Granted, because of vote by mail, a lot of people had already turned in their ballots.)

Saturday, June 28, 2008 05:27 AM

Transcripts, please!

Count me as another person not interested in watching you stand there and talk on camera.

But also count me as someone who couldn't if she wanted to! For some reason, these videos never work in Firefox on my Mac--even in spanky new Firefox 3. I get endless video loads, but no actual video.

Options, please!

transcripts

I think transcripts would be a good idea, although it would require extra effort and time, which I wouldn't demand as a non-subscriber. I don't think it's whining for people to ask for it, it's just that most of the ones who ask for it are demanding it as some kind of right, and including insults about having to look at video of the blogger along with their demands. Personally, if it was up to me, I wouldn't reward these rude and inconsiderate people's demands either.
