Spas are offering drastic discounts on services, but what's half off of ridiculous?

  • Broadsheet:

Working hard for women around the world.

  • Broadsheet - speaking truth to power

And the truth is "we looooovvve power".

  • Does BS object to those new Cadillac ads aimed at women?

I mean how many women can afford one? And the ones that can, aren't they somehow suspect of something? I'm just trying to figure out where BS's watermark for acceptable vs unacceptable consumption is?

Would a women only Green Tourist vacation in the Honduran rainforest be ok?

  • Stuff is getting cheaper...

... but I still can't afford that solid-gold toilet I've had my eye on. Those bastards.

  • It's half off

If you can afford those kinds of luxuries at all, half off is half off, and perhaps enough to convince you to continue paying for those services. Why does that bother you? I'm forking over college tuition on a single mother's salary so it's not my thing, either, but I wouldn't call it ridiculous if a business is doing something to maintain its customers. The folks who work in those spas are people will bills just like I am. Heck, they might even have kids to take care of.

I've lived in several developing countries where the people I've worked with thought it was "ridiculous" that we buy pet food for our dogs and cats. Is it? Perspective is everything. Don't be so judgmental, lest someone begrudge you your bag of Iams when you could have just let your dog scrounge for garbage.
