It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Abortion Man!

A new sketch from Damon Wayans' YouTube "incubator" makes us question what kind of talent he's hoping to help birth.

The letters thread is now closed.

You don't have

A Ray Carruth sense of humor, do you?

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 12:28 PM

this is kind of interesting because it really is illustrating, or the the reaction to it is likely to illustrate

the symbiosis between traditionalists and feminists. Obviously a woman can't get rid of a pregnancy she doesn't want without a man getting rid of one he (usually) doesn't want too. A lot of women would like to fix this injustice if they could, the only difference between feminist women and traditionalist women is whether or not they are willing to punish the woman too in order for the man not to get away with it.

Your vicious attack on Major Payne is way out of line, Catherine...

Just kidding... that video was too fucking stupid and offensive for words. Here's an idea - why not anonymously leak it to some wackadoo anti-abortion group? I'm sure that true hillarity would ensue...

Looks like pro-life promo

This must a spoof on pro-lifers?

However your description of the hooded Clark Kent "abortion man" is rather mis informed, just like pro-lifers. There is not a picture of a Fetus crossed out on is chest of 'Abortion Man" but an image of a 2 year old child.

I guess that is the point of the creator. Somewhat like pro-lifers accusations. Pro-lifer protestors take rubber baby dolls tie them to crosses or walk around with pictures fully formed fetus on a 6 foot poster when they protest outside clinics. Then they push and shove women. One of the big pro-life arguments against abortion is the "woman as a victim of Abortion myth": The woman is thrilled to be pregnant and the man are forcing women to have an abortion.

just another example

I think this is just another example of the weird place our culture has gotten to. With so much entertainment product out there, all of it screaming for our attention, the producers have to go further and further to make their product stand out. It's the same dynamic you see in the p@rn industry and reality TV - the vanilla stuff just doesn't cut it anymore.

It's lousy that this particular piece of product involves two really unfortunate situations (violence and unwanted pregnancy), but I don't think there is anything more to it than a third-rate entertainer grasping at straws.

"art" reflects reality

According to the CDC, black women have a maternal homicide risk about seven times that of white women. Black women ages 25-29 are about 11 times more likely as white women in that age group to be murdered while pregnant or in the year after childbirth.

major payne didn't do anything to you...yet!

I used to love that movie. And I still do...something stupid like that won't change it.

It may be a mockery of how teen boyfriends feel when their girlfriends get pregnant.

but aren't we the ones who acctually make the desicion.

Kind of shows the stark reality

of how powerless men truly are in this society.

heck, we can't even joke about how powerless we are...talk about pathetic.

no wonder guys are killing their women more often, it seems the ONLY choice to a lot of desperate men. That or submit to her will for 18 years- and she may have malicious intent in mind.

awful

just awful. I do not offend easily but this was offensive.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 01:28 PM

could he be making a point trying to make dipsh!ts understand?

I'm at work, so I haven't watched the video, but could this be the sort of thing that might get a narcissistic lunkhead thinking it might be kind've bad form to behave like this? ... when they might not have considered it from that perspective before? you know... way over the top to prove a point otherwise missed by someone who might miss the subtleties of behaving with empathy

tho... I guess, having run across some narcissisitic lunkheads in my past, the sarcasm, if it's there, would go over their heads.

oh heck... I'll watch the dang video...

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 01:29 PM

@brightstar

Come on now. Men are not so powerless. They can 1) wear a condom or 2) abstain (from that particular activity, on that occasion).

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 01:32 PM

Yes, punching and stomping is BAD...

But talk about setting up a "Strawman" to knock down... that's shooting fish in a barrel isn't it? Guess I should search you tube for videos of females acting out comedic castration fantasies, but I can't get motivated. Maybe I don't have as strong an unconscious need to prove women are evil as you have to prove the same of men.

Wait... What about the women who lie and tell their boyfriends "don't use a rubber, I'm on the pill! I want to FEEL you!"

And then goes to court to make the man pay for her decision for EIGHTEEN YEARS!

Anything bad to say about them?

Uncle Al

@brightstar65

I don't generally say this to a total stranger, but for you I will make an exception. You really have some serious issues--to be specific, with your manhood. Seek help....fast. Your perspective is really warped.

Aside from that, frequently it is the woman who feels that an abortion is the right choice for themselves.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 01:54 PM

correction

I meant herself.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 01:55 PM

@ Aleister

"Wait... What about the women who lie and tell their boyfriends "don't use a rubber, I'm on the pill! I want to FEEL you!"

Stay away from those women. Or use a rubber anyway.

Men ARE powerless

too bad women are so deliberately ignorant and obtuse.

Come on now. Men are not so powerless. They can 1) wear a condom or 2) abstain (from that particular activity, on that occasion).

Maybe if women do not want to get accidentally pregnant they ought to keep their legs shut and abstain too.

Condoms break or leak or slip off. Too bad men get no second chances, unlike women.

Look, I realize we men are second class citizens, to be freely kicked around and used by women (and to carry a shit eating grin pretending we are not in such a plight), but men need more options.

I deally men need to make women obsolete and be capable of carrying babies to term themselves.

This seems the ONLY solution to guarantee to men that women cannot screw us over anymore, as they have done historically.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 02:21 PM

one more time, with feeling

I meant to say..

Ideally men need to make women obsolete and be capable of carrying babies to term themselves.

IT is worth saying TWICE anyway.

BS65

@BS65 -Dude, somewhere your med timer is going off.

And to all the condom bashers, do you not know how to use one or do you just have a smallish, sort of soft dick?

I am extremely pro-condom. They have kept me pregnancy and STD free for a long time (I would prefer not to say how long, but LOOOONG). I can only attribute problems with them to operator issues, since I have never had 1 break, 1 slip, 1 nothing, and it certainly isn't for trying.
