    The problem with reevaluating the profit motive, is that even in a monieless society, profit is still the driving motivator for all sentient life.

    Animals seek better hunting and foraging grounds, and crowd out competitors, and so do humans.

    Even in a socialist society where money is replaced with status, the back stabbing, and tireless effort to attain that profit of status isn't decreased.

    The state can make rules (as they do in some other countries) about how much vacation must be given to employees, but even then many still take the office along with them, and at the highest levels, the ever present blackberry means that one can earn profit even on the beach.
