Not shame but responsibility
I don't think that we need to bring shame into it. Introducing responsible decision making, however, might not be a bad idea. It never fails to astonish me that two people who don't feel "ready" to make a marriage commitment blithely go ahead and create a child, which is the most binding commitment two people make, at least for 18 years, like it or not. Using your brain and some birth control does not have to involve shaming anyone.
