A breath of stale air
The idea that if a husband will stray if his wife does not stroke his...ego...enough for his...satisfaction and well-being is as old as...well, at least as old as country-and-western music.
This "human relations expert" lost her radio slot in Chicago a long time ago. I can't remember if it was before or after the revelation that Ms. Family Values' own mother died a horrible, isolated death. So why does this women still have a radio show anywhere?

To say something like this statement
Now, Schlessinger spewing insane antiwoman vitriol is hardly news in itself.
Only proves that Dr. Laura is correct in her initial assertion.
Is it 'insane' to adore your spouse?
Is it 'anti-woman' to be kind and loving to another person?
Is it 'vitriolic' to ask questions or to assert a possibility when it comes to women or their behavior?
Ego, arrogance, ignorance, hypocrisy, irresponsibility, sexism towards men, intolerance of men, concerted efforts to dehumanize men.
This is what I think of when I think of feminism today and for the past twenty years. Too bad-- I used to give women more credit than that.
Thanks for not letting me down. We all know why young women today refuse to identify themselves as feminists anymore. Some of them actually LOVE men.
Am I being too vitriolic? suck it up, chickies.

Well, at least
she's an equal-opportunity sexist. I mean, didn't you notice her take on men's extreme emotional/psychological fragility? Old Elliot needs to be petted 24/7, just like the rest of us, right? Please.

Why don't they just go back to the kitchen...
If these women are just going to tell women they have to live to serve their man, then why don't they do us all a favor and lead by example. How hard is it to replace them? I hear John Gibson is now looking for a new gig now that his show went in the tiolet, if he can make fun of a dead man for playing a gay character, certainly he must have some hatred in there for women too.

Pot...kettle?
Er, Kate? Simmer down. You wouldn't want to join the ranks of these woman-hating women writers.
Obviously, Dr. Laura's statement is insane; it seems evident that Mr. Spitzer is suffering from a sex addiction, and no woman in the world can heal him of that if he doesn't want to be healed. It is inexcusable and deplorable that she failed to point that out.
But let's judge her statement on its own merits, or lack thereof, and leave the 'woman-hating attitude,' extended to every prominent female columnist who ever criticized another woman, out of it. It's just as sexist to reflexively present women in an eternally positive light as it is to blame them for everything. And the least sexist thing we can do is to call our own gender on its stupid tricks, just as if we were full-fledged adults who are responsible for our own actions, already.

Thanks for straightening that out, Brightstar
For a minute I thought it was sometimes not the wife's fault when her husband hires a prostitute.
-
Dr. Laura?
I thought she'd disappeared into a sanitorium a long time ago! I also seem to recall that her doctorly credentials and qualifictions were held up to the light of some truthful scrutiny, that it was found out that she didn't have any. I can't believe she's back! The creature from Boggie creek has been ressurected and has returned? I'm amazed.
-
Well, so there basically IS a devil, after all?
Dr. Laura is evil. Can we just agree on that, & move on?
Also, there is no possibility that Dr. Laura herself is able to 'make a man feel like a man.' More like a toad about to be devoured by a sociopathic snake.
Are she & Ann Coulter related? They have the same look.

Feel like a man?
My list of men who need the affirmation of a spouse to "feel like a man" does not include Eliot Spitzer, the former prosecuter who spent his high-profile career busting folks and taking names.
If you want to ask why... why not ask why he didn't just fly to Vegas where his indulgences are legal?
-
Maybe he hired a 22 year old Prostitute...
... because she was 22 and a prostitute?
News flash for Dr. Laura. Guys will always try or at least want to have sex with younger, hotter, sluttier versions of whoever they are married to or dating. You can be married to a Saint who cooks, cleans, and loves sex four times a week. But your always going to be looking (maybe not doing and hope to god not paying) at something else.
Men are dogs. I know I am one. Women at aren't the problem, men aren't the problem. The real problem is a system of morals, imposed by people like Dr. Laura, that is contradictory to our biological needs and wants.

No Brightstar
What's insane is for "Dr." Laura to assume she knows a damn thing about the Spitzer's marriage. They weren't her clients, they didn't call her up and talk about their marriage to her. It's not insane to treat your spouse well and Ms. Harding didn't point and laugh and say treat your spouse well, tell him he's great and how proud you are of him, how stupid! No she said it's stupid to pretend that men only cheat because their wife isn't being perfect wifey. Do you have comprehension issues?
She just decides to assume that men only visit prostitutes because the wife isn't doing enough to make him feel good about himself. It's crap, the onus of being faithful is on only you, not someone else and while a bad patch in a marriage may make you feel like running somewhere else for sex, we certainly don't know if that was his case or that it's okay to say gee hon, I know I never told you that I really hated our sex life or the way you treat me at home, so I went to prostitutes instead of dealing with it and it's all your fault because you couldn't read my mind. It's crap when women do it and it's crap when men do it and Dr. Laura is full of crap. Plus this man and woman are being humiliated enough and it certainly isn't nice of anyone to go pointing fingers and going it's all your fault Mrs. lady your husband did something illegal that lost him his job. Dr. Laura is reacting in the most ridiculous lizard brain way, pretend that as long as you are the perfect bestest spouse, your spouse won't cheat. Nope, it's pretty much his fault. He knew the job he held, he knows how sex scandals rock the media, for whatever reason he threw caution to the wind and the only people who are ever going to know why he did what he did are his wife and his possible therapist for him to try and discover why he set upon such a self destructive path, not because he saw someone else for sex, but because he knew as a public offical what getting caught would mean. He was Clinton's Superdelegate, it's not like he was unaware of what happens when a powerful man gets caught cheating on his wife.
