Just for starters, southern "Christian" Sudanese culture (Dinka, Nuer, Acholi, etc.) is remarkably matriarchal. Men may make all the speeches, to be sure, but the elders, particularly the clan mothers, actually have all the jam.
Men are not insisting on FGM in their brides, pretty much they marry whoever they are told to marry by their elders, the bride being in any condition the elders see fit. If anybody is taking pleasure from female suffering during sex it is granny and the great aunts and uncles.
And you are making suppositions about human evolution that edge pretty close to outright racism. No, East African men are not different from the rest of us; no, they do not pleasure in female suffering; no they have not evolved that way.
For shame.

You can't ask men to refuse to marry circumcised women
That would be a double insult to any person who has undergone genital mutilation.
The truth seems to be that no one really knows the best way to end genital mutilation in the world. Some countries have mostly eliminated it in a quick period of time, such as Britain or New Zealand. Some countries have been practicing mutilations for thousands of years.
I think we just have to continue to the process of education and social pressure. We will win eventually.

I take umbrage at your charge of racism, in re East African men developing differently.
I focused exclusively on men from FGM cultures, East Africa or elsewhere. And I'm not so primitve as to be conflate societal norms with any sort of genetic predisposition - which is what your charge of racism accuses me of.
I explained what some Western men would consider signs of their sexual prowess or a succesful sexual encounter, but that doesn't mean that I'm implying that Western men have evolved to be skillful, considerate lovers or any such nonsense. By extension I am not stating that East African men are sexual sadists by nature.
Their universe is one in which practically every woman since the days of their great-great-great grandmothers is a victim of FGM. Hetero-Sex thus means sex w/ FGM women. I assume the men find the sex to be pleasurable. I also assume that the women find the sex not to be pleasurable.
Thus pleasurable sex for the men from FGM cultures equals one in which the women are in pain/uncomfortable during sex. My crackpot theory then bing in some degree the woman's discomfort/pain is incorporated into the male's sexual arousal.
Take all the potshots at my line of reasoning that you'd like, but do keep your charges of racism the heck away from me.
If the men of Saskatchewan engaged in sex with exclusively FGM women, I'd think the same of them.

By your estimation I'm sort of racist for thinking that the men from FGM cultures in some part enjoy their women's discomfort during sex - but you disagree - thinking that it's actually the grannys, aunts and uncles who are getting off on the women's pain.
So I say the guys - I'm racist.

Other than degree, what is the difference between removing the inner labia in Sudan, and the "new" plastic surgery procedure in the west where the inner labia are trimmed off?
Both practices are to make the female more "attractive" to the male.
I guess the biggest difference is that in the west it appears to be volentary.

But IS it voluntary in the West?
After all, since women insist that they are not responsible for themselves, that their seven year old minds are too weak to challenge the media, they and their seven year old minds are essentially being forced against their will to have such surgery performed on them to satisfy the nasty imaginary secret space cloud demon patriarchal men.
So really, this is no different. Class action lawsuit anyone?
