She should introduce a "Sweet Home Alabama" bracelet...
...and for every S.H.A. bracelet you buy, $2.00 will be sent to every young Hollywood actress who is courageous enough to refuse to do uber-crappy, hella-sappy romantic comedies.
Now THAT would be a worthy cause!
{Alternate name: the "27 Dresses" bracelet.}

Picturing...
... all these rubber bracelets intact in a thousand years in our landfills. And the oil required to make them in China and ship them to the US, And the resulting pollution. Empowering, isn't it?

Layers within the landfill--
The rubber bracelets will make up the layer on top of the "bumper ribbons". That layer will be on top of the American flag pins which will be on top of the WWJD bracelets.
I think the website should institute a "rubber bracelet recycling" program. Wouldn't all those rubber bracelets look cool all melted down and molded into a patio table?

Tie a yellow ribbon!
Buying one of those bracelets is the least we can do. No seriously - the very least we can do, because that is pretty darn close to doing nothing. What is the incentive of the "reward" anyhow, so you can show off to other people how enlightened you are?

Suggestion: I just renewed my Salon membership, and instead of a complimentary magazine or discount to somewhere I don't shop, had the choice been available, I'd have donated something to this sort of project. Something for Salon to consider adding in the future.

clarification
Just to be clear, I didn't mean to suggest that small donations are meaningless, else what sense would it make to bundle them with a membership? But knowing my basic nature, I'm alot more likely to simply add it to something I already have my wallet out for, then to independently go to another site, add all my information, as a seperate process. It's not apathy that keeps me from contributing to charities more often, its laziness. Make it easy for me, and I'll give more.
