I was really pleased to read this article in the NYT, "Obama Adding Detail to His Oratory"
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/17/us/politics/17obama.html
Clinton is a boxer, and when she strikes back there's so much blood that people turn away.
Obama does jujutsu. He deflects the criticism without ending up looking bad. This is the sort of fighter that's needed in the Presidential race.
That article restored my confidence, which had been wavering a little in the face of all these attacks from Clinton. Obama can deal with this stuff expertly.

Hillary Clinton on Putin.
"I could have told him, he was a KGB agent. By definition he doesn't have a soul."
Medvedev is Putin's choice as successor. I am sure they will get on swimingly.

Not a big deal
I don't see the sexism here. I've seen some, Chris Matthews and many of the RW blogs, but it's incidental. She will continue to be dismissed and attacked as a candidate by Obama because they are in opposition to one another, not because she's a woman, and when she fires back, it's not because he's black.
Off topic, on people attacking Obama supporters for their cult of personality love, that doesn't always disappoint people, just the ones that don't "get" it.
I do not see the support of Obama as overly worshipful, it pales in comparison to the feelings of R's (and many, many independents) to the mythical Reagan. Things weren't that great under him but if a poll were taken today, he would still be viewed very favorably.
JFK inspired that kind of devotion, too.
I've never been capable of that kind of support, but it doesn't mean I can't like them. I liked Edwards, Dodd and Richardson better (let alone Feingold, but he didn't run), but I'm beginning to lean towards Obama. Hillary would get my full hearted support over McCain.
I'm getting tired of the victim card, let's leave that to the poor oppressed white male Christians who are constantly under "attack" in the alternative world of FOX news. Maybe some day a white male Christian will finally be able to successfully run for President in this country....

Anonmous, in response to my letter.
You've just revealed that you have reading difficulties, and in that case, I'm sorry for being so hard on you. I'm not sure whether you're the one who has a leprechaun fixation or the one who got into Notre Dame because you could play with a ball. Maybe you're the one who resented Irish people being specific about their Irishness. When I mentioned this to my husband, his response was "And Americans don't let us know that they're Americans?" I thought about that for a second or two and decided that, in general, they don't have to tell us as it's evident. Fortunately for you, Ano, I've met some intelligent Americans (and not in Ireland) so I know they're not like you. Literacy classes might help you but youmightn't get as far as Dickens' "David Copperfield" in which the character Uriah Heep appears. It's along book with lots of big words. Now hurry off, lad, and contact Joan about me, complaining about the "Irish harridan" who's racist because she doesn't go a bundle on Obama. I suppose you've never heard this before either but I'm telling you and your clones right now that "Suspicion haunts the guilty mind". I presume you gurgled with delight when you managed to read the first post from Manos 99. All that wit about flatulence or farts, possibly a word you'd find easier to understan. It's a lovely Spring day here and I'm feeling mellow but if you think you want to continue, all I'll say is "Bring it on!", although those words, used by John Kerry, evoke memories of John Kerry the last Democratic candidate to give the world four more years of George W. Bush.

A point or two
Two points:
1. Sexist? After watching the YouTube clip, it's hard to see how one could come to that conclusion. (Which rather dissapointed me: I was thrilled to think that Obama could deliver a slick little zinger like that, and was gleefully anticipating how he might take it to Senator McCan't...) But, let's face it: it was a rambling hesitant answer that seems "calculated" to avoid sharing how much disdain he feels for his friend-before-friend-after.
2. I see how women of a certain age, demographic, and political history might hear sexism lurking behind every word. But, where is the insight borne of shared experience and circumstances? When will the "feminist" lightbulb go off that makes a connection between "pimped out" and "periodically" and "a kid," " fairytale," and "Jesse Jackson won SC, too." If language matters, then language matters. Unless feminists want to pretend that the only language that matters is that which offends middle-class white women. Frankly, I'm going to ignore you until I hear you have the intellectual courage to take that up in your commentary.
(OK, 4 points...)
3. The meta-narrative already attached to Senator Clinton is that she will do and say anything to advance her political interests. How does it help her candidacy to attach the mantle of "victim" to her personage? What a summarily stupid campaign she's running,
4. I've often heard men tell women to stat in the kitchen. My obaervation: the best dishes I have ever had the pleasure of eating have almost all been prepared by a dude. So, please ladies, stay far, far away from all kitchens.

When Hillary Goes Negative
I have spent the better part of the past year and Obama has never given a speech without injecting insults to Clinton. Why is it Obama has a constant negative and when Hillary attacks it's because she's losing.
Sexism is alive and well in America and the media. I am sick and tired of Obama getting away with the very thing he accuses Clinton of. Inspirational speeches does not make a president, experience does. I hope Hillary grabs the next primary and makes a clean sweep.
When Hillary attacks, it's a good thing and I think her having ignored his attacks have hurt her, so, Hillary GO!!!!!!!!!!
