Correction: "thoughts, words, inventions etc. of another as one's own"

I believe that there is such a thing as "intellectual property" although hackneyed phrases raising ghosts of long-dead men hardly comes within the ambit of anything "intellectual" or original.

Maureen,

I know that you have a hard-on full of hate for Barack Obama, but the New York Times reported today that Deval and Barack, who are GOOD FRIENDS, spoke last week and Deval suggested that Barack use the lines in question.

"In a telephone interview on Sunday, Mr. Patrick said that he and Mr. Obama first talked about the attacks from their respective rivals last summer, when Mrs. Clinton was raising questions about Mr. Obama’s experience, and that they discussed them again last week.

Both men had anticipated that Mr. Obama’s rhetorical strength would provide a point of criticism. Mr. Patrick said he told Mr. Obama that he should respond to the criticism, and he shared language from his campaign with Mr. Obama’s speechwriters.

Mr. Patrick said he did not believe Mr. Obama should give him credit."

Unless plagiarism standards are quite different on the Emerald Isle, then I submit that you are being willfully obtuse.

CORRECT YOUR MISQUOTE SALON!!!

"Feeling down" [as SALON quotes] reads more sexist than just "down," which is what Obama ACTUALLY SAID!!! A comment about reacting to polls has morphed in this context into a gender issue. Obama does not impress me here, but this kind of stupid comment is commonplace between any opposing candidates. By injecting Hillary's "feeling" into the statement, Katharine, you are stoking the flames of conflict between the two camps.

I love both candidates, but I am heartsick over the vitriol in these comments. PLEASE CORRECT THIS MISQUOTE!!!

Obama is not perfect. Neither is Hillary. I will vote for whichever gets the nod.

DEMOCRAT FIRST.

Monday, February 18, 2008 06:07 PM

What an idiot..

Obama is an idiot, I just found another reason to vote for ANYBODY but him.

Monday, February 18, 2008 06:09 PM

Naive

It is naive if you think Ahmadinejad is going to somehow care more about Barack Obama and America than his own issues and agenda, no matter what Barack says or does.

I disagree with Bush's tactics.

And Hillary has said many times that she disagrees with the way the Bush administration has handled and mishandled matters of diplomacy. But that also doesn't mean that she thinks it should be done recklessly either.

No administration is perfect. But the Clintons know how vitally important diplomacy is. We had some of our greatest approval ratings around the world when Bill was in office. I was talking with someone in England the other day who is rooting for Hillary because they "loved Bill so much" over there.

And they hate Bush. They know the difference.

People here who lump Hillary together with Bush are being truly incredibly ignorant, and irrational.

"What an Idiot."

Well forgive me, but you sure don't strike me as the brightest bulb in the box yourself.

Monday, February 18, 2008 06:12 PM

Sleeper Truth,

"the Clintons know how vitally important diplomacy is."

Which is why Hillary:

1) Voted for the Iraq war

2) Voted for the Iraq war without reading the National Intelligence Estimate, which cast doubt on the claim that there were WMDs there

3) Refuses to apologize for voting for the war (as John Edwards did)

4) Voted to authorize George Bush to conduct military strikes on IRAN.

Yeah, Hillary Clinton. What a freakin' diplomat.

Hawkeye Hillary's brand new foreign policy slogan:

"Next year...TEHRAN!"

Monday, February 18, 2008 06:15 PM

It's a condescending remark...

Just to add... he is arrogant, what else could one expect? It is a condescending remark and should be commented on. I too, once thought that all of the 'little woman' comments were water under the bridge, until this election cycle.

When I get paid equally to a man, then talk to me... otherwise, we still have a far way to go. I think it's time to revive the Women's Movement.

Monday, February 18, 2008 06:17 PM

Dumber Truth,

You say:

"People here who lump Hillary together with Bush are being truly incredibly ignorant, and irrational."

OK, so Hillary should not be lumped in with anyone.

Then you say,

"We had some of our greatest approval ratings around the world when Bill was in office."

Wait, aren't you lumping Hillary in with Bill? Arguing that if we elect Hillary, her presidency will be just as successful?

Also, if I attacked Hillary for something that Bill did, I'd be... SEXIST, wouldn't I?

Geez, you're a hypocrite.

Monday, February 18, 2008 06:19 PM

@Huey,

Sure. Revive the women's movement by voting for Hillary. Because all women must support the woman candidate.

I'm starting to wonder if the 19th Amendment was such a hot idea.

AnonyMOUSE, your cruddy language and the filthy verbiage of others of your ilk is enough

to sicken anyone. First of all you should learn some anatomy before commenting on priapism. Whether these two men were good friends or not is completely irrelevant if one was using the words of the other while conveying the impression that they were his own. AnonyMOUS don't even dare to think you have the mental equipment to understand me or to ascribe your phallic fantasies to me. Complexity is beyond the purlieus of your limited understanding. I'm reminded of the Duke of Kent's scathing comment to Oswald in "King Lear" -"A tailor made thee" which sums up yhe American expression an "empty suit", which, unfortunately, is all I see in your hero, Barack Obama. He's been processed for the mass market but some people study the goods more carefully. I don't know why I should bother trying to explain anything to the likes of you anyway since you are no more than a ventriloquist's mouthpiece. Now you can foam-at-th-mouth as much as you like and give your vile imagination free rein because I'm off to bed, AnonyMOUSE.

Poor Maureen

Ms. O'Dunglle, or whatever you call yourself, are we supposed to fall over in adoration at a couple of Shakespearean droppings? And you don't think your fashionable drape reference might be construed as veiled gay bashing? Are the Governor and Obama secret closet homos, trading oratio for fellatio? Bring something to the party besides prissy condescending diatribes and maybe we'll talk. Thus far, sound and fury signifying nothing pretty much sums you up. Scarlett O'Hara with a cockney accent is what I'm getting. Correct me. I have every confidence you will. It's you burden: brilliance and bollocks. love heywood
