When Hillary attacks!

  • there is no way at this point to know if obama really is drawing independents who actually know he is a democrat

or whether his independent support is really all or nearly all republicans gaming the system and people who are reading what they want to on what is, at least to them, a blank page. In other words what may happen is: if obama is the nominee the republicans, when it comes time to make a decision, will all go back to their corner and some people who say they now support him will be turned by winger propaganda (unlike Clinton about whom there is nothing new the right can say so anyone who is willing to support her now isn't going to change their mind.) It may be true that obama can overcome this, but since the republican media has maintained a total blackout of critical coverage of obama (why would they do that?) there is no way to know.

  • Paranoid people

The truth is that there are a lot of paranoid people out there who believe almost anything they hear and buy into the idea of any conspiracy.

There are a lot of people who do think Obamamania is kind of creepy. I am one of them.

I started out with no preference, evalutating each equally, it became clear to me that while Barack is a gifted speaker, Hillary is truly more qualified to help our country most efficiently and effectively at this time.

I have now become a Hillary advocate because I see how she is so mistreated.

Peter Sagal, a Harvard graduate and cultural commentator, humorist, and writer said that the irrationality and fanaticism of many Obamamaniacs is creeping him out too - and reminding him too much of Tom Cruise's fanaticism.

Why is it that Obama supporters don't understand that there are many intelligent, objective people who don't agree with them?

Why do they always think it's a conspiracy?

That says a lot about you, and your ability to discern between fiction and reality.

Reality is really a lot more boring, but also a lot more substantial.

  • @deepertruth

Well, if this "realization" of yours that Obama supporters are "creepy" struck you within the past week or so, then congratulations, you've just been pwned by the Clinton spin machine. Please see the link to the Times of London story on the previous page, which reports that the Clintons started this media narrative. You're as "smart" as your sister, apparently.

    And this statement of yours:

"I have now become a Hillary advocate because I see how she is so mistreated."

Is disgusting to me. Her one trick for securing female votes is to play the victim. All she has to do is go on Tyra Banks' show and explain how she felt when she learned that Bill cheated on her (she did this before Super Tuesday, by the way) and women just moo and vote for her.

Grow up. We're electing a president of the United States, not the president of a knitting circle.

  • @Dumber Truth,

this "cult" you speak of has won more states, more votes, and more delegates than your beloved "victim" candidate.

How can a "cult" be the majority of the Democratic party?

Are you seriously comparing the supporters of a Democratic senator who is running for President to a Scientologist?

You know what? Nevermind. Just fit the facts into the predetermined boxes in your head however you want.

  • @deeper truth

Nobody claimed that it was a conspiracy that Clinton has done well. The comment right before yours, actually, posits that it is a conspiracy that Obama has done well (that people have been "gaming" the system and voting for him because they think he is likely to lose in November).

Why is it that Obama supporters don't understand that there are many intelligent, objective people who don't agree with them?

But you have to understand, too, that a vote for Obama is (in most cases) an intelligent, objective vote that just happens to disagree with yours. People on both sides of this argument refuse to see the other side, not just people who are on Obama's side.

  • @deepertruth

It's not too late too pull out of this total brainlock... Listen to yourself, both you and your sister "heard her speak." THIS is your research, your due diligence into your candidate? Read "Re-Writing History" by Dick Morris. Morris was a Clinton aide, and advisor during Bill's years in office. He wrote this book previous to '04 campaign, so this was not written with this campaign specifically in mind. It is a great read, and exposes Hillary's layers bad and good. But then again, Hillary supporters don't like to read anything that doesn't parrot their views

  • he hasn't won more votes, as of a few days ago, and we don't know how many of his votes are reliabley democratic (or are in states the dems have a chance in) in the general

unlike the case with clinton where we can assume that all or nearly all her voters can be counted on to be democratic in november.

  • Creepy...maybe that's the problem?

Why is it that Obama supporters don't understand that there are many intelligent, objective people who don't agree with them?

There are tons of supporters, of both candidates, that do understand this, but....

When they are accused of being sexist for not thinking that saying "periodically" and "down" in a comment about Hillary means that she's hormonal and her and any other woman can never be trusted, Obama supporter's might get a bit defensive.

If they like a candidate and are enthused about him, and are promptly accused of being creepy, cultish and similar to Tom Cruise, they might get a bit defensive.

Hell, I even think accusations about being naive would make me a bit defensive, I imagine there are some very well read supporters on both sides, and a few people that like the "idea" of a woman, the "idea" of a black man, or the "idea" of anything appealing and base their judgement on that item alone. I'm not going to base my vote on the fact that some idiot will vote for them for the "wrong" reason.

If Ann Coulter votes for Hillary instead of McCain, I'm still voting for Hillary, even if I would have preferred Obama over her, and 4 other Dems over either one of them.

I do believe that both Hillary and Obama have their negatives, but I think McCain has many more that can be capitalized on.
