When Hillary attacks!

Don't forget that Hillary has said repeatedly that her healthcare plan will provide help for people who simply cannot afford to purchase it. Ideally, everyone will pay something except for those on Medicaid, which continues to provide help for the disabled poor. Medicare also provides for the the disabled as it does for the elderly. The is S-CHIP for poor families with dependant children.

It seems to me that Hillary Clinton could do a better job of explaining to people that ability to pay will have a great deal to do with what people are charged.

It puzzles me that Obama supporters do not understand that Obama's plan also includes a sort of mandate for those who will run into glass doors at parties, be rear-ended on the freeway, or have a nervous breakdown at exam time. When one shows up at the hosipital one will realize that -- whatever one's emergency -- one will be charged for premiums not paid because one did not choose to have insurance. How he can claim that this is some sort of universal coverage is beyond me.

Wow, Obama's words of unity, love and peace for every human being speak through you.

    So caring and passionate.

Sorry, but though I read your careful explanation thoroughly, I was unable to detect any argument other than "She seduced him." And again, I say the relationship was inherently coercive. Obviously Monica complied. She may have willingly complied. She may have believed herself to be in love. Does this erase the power imbalance? It's like you're arguing that a male prison guard can have a consensual relationship with a female inmate. I was surprised a so-called "feminist" wasn't more supportive of the idea that a relationship's balance of power should be equal, until I remembered that Hillary supporters are willing to twist their own perceptions to support whatever argument is required to get her to the White House. Girl Power!

You scoff at the idea that Bill might prey on another woman if he had access to White House interns again -- but have you read anything about his pattern of abusive behavior? Seriously, have you read Kathleen Willey's story, or Paula Jones's story, for example? Just because these women were adopted by the right-wing wingnuts doesn't mean they were lying. Or does it? Were these women "bimbos," as Hillary called them? Were they "asking for it" as well? Gennifer Flowers was a pretty girl. Did she use her "knowing" feminine wiles on Bill?

You marvel that people are unable to separate his behavior from hers. Well, when you campaign as "two for one," when you campaign on your husband's record (she often invites people to fondly remember the '90s), and when you send a former president of the United States out on the campaign trail to do fundraisers for your campaign and to lean on superdelegates for you, that's what you get. What's funny to me is that you think Hillary is a model of female independence, when in fact she owes everything in her life to her fortuitous marriage. She is as independent as Lurleen Wallace was, and if she is elected, it will be for the same reasons ol' Lurleen made it to the governor's mansion.

"ability to pay will have a great deal to do with what people are charged."

So, from each according to his ability, to each according to his need?

    Got it.

Is a sliding scale considered a commie thing now?

  • AKA Smith

I see your point, but I think it's because those who don't want to hear what she has said about it, refuse to acknowledge it. Clinton said it loud and clear. She has said it many times. I think it's willingly glossed over. There is no one who is truly serious about looking at both plans from Clinton and Obama carefully and fairly who would say some of the shit that is said here.

And then, no one bothers to remember Obama saying that people who don't pay and need to go to the hospital could be "gaming the system" and need to pay a fine. Oooops. They never heard that.

  • @Mizmoon,

When that "sliding scale" is part of a system enforced by mandatory wage garnishments, I'd say... Yes.

Face it, this plan has no. chance. of. passing.

  • @xanadu,

Wait, so your best argument is "Barack's a commie TOO?"

Think of it this way. It's like Hillary's plan would force everyone to pay to rent three movies a month from Blockbuster, whether they had a DVD player or not, whereas Barack's plan says that you don't have to rent any movies from Blockbuster, but if you decide to rent a movie, you'll have to pay a fee to obtain a Blockbuster card.

It may be fruitless to ask Hillary supporters to consider the concept of free will and the free market, but I am willing to try.

Any "feminist" who remains silent as Hillary's campaign tries to invalidate the vote of a black woman because it comes from a state that Obama won, or from a state with a large black population is a hypocrite.

I would never supoprt a candidate who did this, and that's a pretty loaded charge. It doesn't behoove her to do so. At the same time, the media is portraying supporters of Clinton (who happen to be white and female) as a variety of names, none of them good. Oh well.

I've also seen black (and every other color) males on tv (who support Obama) say they or their friends won't vote for a woman because they don't think she should be POTUS...punctuated with laughter! It saddens me that they think it's OK to say this, with smiles on their faces. It's also very sobering; safe to say, Obama might actually benefit feminism because after this election I'll be using my wallet to speak...any charitable dollars I've earmarked for carious causes will now all go to feminist organizations.

I don't even mind if people support Obama for the color of his skin if people feel unified. I just loathe that to make a point, some feel it necessary to be sexist smartasses.

We still have a long way to go, baby.
