What a disgusting thing to say. This Shuster is a lowlife. I only wish HIllary or Bill had been in the studio to knock him on his ass for that remark.
Repugs really are beneath contempt.
I voted for Obama on Super Tuesday and hope to vote for him in the General, but the media hatred of Hillary is out of control. Well Duh! Of course Chelsea is going to help her Mom. She's an adult and makes her own decisons.
When a car is pimped out, it means you are adding a cool paint job and nice wheels as radical exhaust, etc.
So if Chelsea Clinton is being pimped out, does that mean she is getting cosmetic surgery and a froo-froo hairdo and super-stylish clothes?
I'm totally speechless. Sometimes I almost suspect they are pulling a Rovian Reverse Psychology trick to get Democrats to nominate Hillary. But then again, they've always beaten up on her, just like Al Gore. I guess it can get them more money...
This is nothing more complicated than a daughter helping her mom in time of need.
Move on folks, nothing to see here.
What is absurd is that these jackals want their viewers to picture poor little Chelsea in white socks, mary janes, and pigtails being sold by her old whore of a mother to a voracious pedophile media.
Gimme a break! Hillary Clinton took the greatest care to protect her daughter from the glare of the media while the Clintons were in the White House. Chelsea Clinton is now an adult woman who is fully capable of making her own choices about the extent to which she will help her mother's campaign.
If the phrase "pimped out" had been used by a white newscaster about a black candidate's daughters, Schuster would be fired.
Why was it okay for Mitt Romney's sons to campaign?
From the stories I've read, Chelsea Clinton is a -very- effective campaigner.
Hell, when her father was president, she got cheers from Marines.
She must be devastatingly effective now.
I could see a logical complaint if Chelsea were 5, and her mother was forcing her to make phone calls and attend parties and whatever.
But Chelsea is, what, in her late 20's? Doesn't she have a MBA? I think she can make up her own mind about how much campaigning she wants to do for her mother.
right?
This is a perfect example of why MSNBC, like FOX, needs to be IGNORED by anyone who wants to be taken seriously.
I cringed when I saw that yesterday. He should apologize if he hasn't already. However, the tone of the conference call wasn't that great. Playing the victim card is something that can backfire in candidate's face
The recent obituary for Margaret Truman Daniel reminded us about how much trouble a critic got into nearly 60 years ago by suggesting that the First Daughter of the time might not have a first-class singing voice.
Now, this really low, snide comment is probably going to just get lost in the chatter. Sad.
BECAUSE THEY WERE AGAINST RUDY! Bwahahah!
Chelsea is an adult, harvard graduate, international traveler, attractive jiggly woman of 28 and perfectly capable of speaking as an adult in favor of her mother. In 2016, when Barack Obama is still a youthful 55, she will be 36 meeting the age requirement of the Presidency.
Vote Obama/Clinton 2016.
is a class act. She has been picked on by the Right since middle school, and has remained publicly unflappable. She has gone to college, gotten a job, and gotten a private life. She has kept her face out of the tabloids (instead of becoming a "celebretard") and kept her "youthful indiscretions" to a minimum. She is a smart, savvy, talented young woman, and I'm sure her parents are very proud of her.
(Chelsea Clinton for President 2020?)
to call out Mary Cheney for supporting a homophobic party and a homophobic president.
Chelsea is just supporting her mom in an authentic fashion. Mary stabbed a vulnerable minority to which she belongs in the back, repeatedly.
Chelsea Clinton is a Stanford graduate with post-grad study up at Oxford. She did not go to Harvard. She does not have an MBA.
She worked for McKinsey, then switched to a hedge fund.
Neither of those environments is an easy culture.
Just when you think American political discourse can't get lower, it does. I've always thought it was beneath people to politically attack others through one's children, but I remember years ago people attacking Chelsea when her father was POTUS.
I'm not a big fan of the Clintons. I voted for Bill for his first term, but didn't in the second. When I lived in NYC, I didn't vote for Hillary because I didn't like how she and NY State Democrats butted out other women candidates who actually did live and work in NY as political representatives, women who had put in their time
I'm no saint, either. I could be accused of being less than decorous when I rhetorically asked (on Salon): "If Bill is the first black president, what does that make Hillary? The First Bitch?"
I don't like the dynastic implications of a Clinton restoration, but attacking a young woman for working on her mother's campaign? If she hadn't been doing that, she be attacked for that.
People have said and written that American politics was much more rough and tumble in the first 100 years or so of the republic, and that may well be true.
But there is something twisted and unseemly in the way that people think that it's okay to attack and denigrate politician's children, whether as minors or adults.
The basic concepts of decency, restraint, and fairness goes out the window when it comes to politics. People believe it's okay to say and do anything just to win. It's not, and such an attitude has a very corrosive effect on the body politic.
SHUSTER: But doesn't it seem like Chelsea's sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?
The cheap vulgarisms that creep into coverage (including Joan Walsh's funny but tasteless reference to Obama's media "fluffers") are getting out of hand. If Bill Clinton is looking to play attack dog in a worthy cause, let him channel the ghost of Harry Truman and challenge this punk Shuster over his referring to the Clintons' daughter as someone doing the bidding of pimps! Imagine the media uproar had someone talked about the Bush twins in this way.
