Living in the United States I am thankful I have daughters and not boys....
More money will be spent on my daughters in school, because of the girl crisis.
Chances are they will go to college, where there are more girls than boys, and more girls in med school and law school.
If they live in an urban area they will almost certainly be paid more than boys with equal qualifications.
They cannot rape anyone, and if blind drunk their drunken state will be determined to be some boy's responsibility, not theirs.
They will not be drafted.
They will almost certainly have a safer occupation than a man.
They will be able to have children, and nurture those children without being forced to go back to work almost immediately.
If they hit a man, the man will almost certainly be blamed for causing the dispute and most likely the man will be the one arrested.
If they divorce they will almost certainly get custody of the children, and will almost certainly have a better standard of living than the man.
If they choose to leave their profession to stay home with their children, people will not question their commitment to the family or question their femininity.
It's sad, that "it's a boy" is still an occasion for weeping in the United States since there is still so much institutionalized sexism against men, buttressed by female oriented columns such as Broadsheet.
Think globally, act locally, right KM?

I can't see it as a positive development for the improved perception of the human value of girls to come at the expense of the value of boys.
Get back to me when they figure out how to be thankful for the instrinsic value of *children.*

If the girl/woman gets caught with a dildo in her hand, and the boy's/man's asshole is sore, then she will be charged with rape. However, one of the blessing of having a daughter is the extreme unlikelihood that she would go to the trouble to get a guy drunk just to have sex with him (with sons you have to put in extra time to teach them not to ever try to get a girl/woman drunk for sex).

That is complete bullshit, as the trend is that corporations and factories are trying to decrease the amount of paid maternity leave/vacation they give to women, not increase it. The truth is that new borns go into day care quicker today than ever before.

More bullshit: The usual case is that the "dead beat dad" skips out and leaves the mother and children in extreme poverty, where child neglect is certain to transpire. However, you have never provided statistics that show that men that fight for custody of the children in the divorce proceedings don't get fair consideration from the courts. All you ever site is your own sad case, and most of us broadsheet readers, based on your personality, feel that it is a good thing that the kids didn't end up with you.

Complete Bullshit again: The truth is our boys are not slammed by traditions, customs, the media, TV, and advertising hundreds of times a day into feeling self conscious about themselves or their bodies, where as our daughters still are.

Being a guy is a ridiculous position to place a child into

Girls live longer
More money is spent on their medical issues
Women stick together to solve problems-- ie. breast cancer
Greater freedom of expression-- emotional, clothes, grrl rage
More positive gender support-- "only men are evil"
Skank all you want effortlessly (just spread it), orgasm all you can stand
Absolved of all traditional female roles-- anyone see guys getting this?
Behavior excuses galore one week a month
No weight of gender pressing down, few bad examples of women
No pressure to "be a woman"
Can be a girlie girl, tomboy, everything else in between
Women control the whole sex/love/reproduction enchilada
Why would ANYONE want to be a guy unless he is insane?

Oh yeah? Guys are trained to let such stuff roll off their backs. Nice way to develop a gender-- tell them to become ignoring, dim, hardened souls.
Are girls maybe WEAKER than boys? Letting little things wedge their way into their minds?
If girls can use their bodies as cudgels to get at what they want out of society, that is ONE THING MORE than most boys have, which is the possibility of instant entree into higher levels of society. Boys have to work their asses off to prove THEIR worth in contrast. Some get rich, MOST do not. Believe me, it weighs on them that they are undervalued because most women see them as failures.
