I had no idea how truly awful the circumstance are. This is surely an emergency situation.
As to your mention of the people involved in this situation becoming sociopathic, it sounds that if anything could result in sociopathy, this horrific culture could. The problem as I see it is that, according to the bit I know about human psychological development, most of the indications that ultimately (in adulthood) result in a diagnosis of sociopathy, are not easily reversed after the age of 12. Somehow, the cycle must be broken. But how? Releasing sociopaths and soon-to-be sociopaths again upon aboriginal society will not improve it.
Thank you for your explanation of your previous post. While I disagree with you on forgiveness as a virtue that should be demanded of victims (indeed, I think it can be harmful), and while I think your Nazi references are strained (and disrespectful to Holocaust survivors), I have nothing personal against you. Indeed, I find you interesting and look upon you as a sort of intriguing oddity. I surely do not hate you.
Also, I know of no evidence that non-violent porn involving adults (not children) increases sex crimes. I would appreciate a link.
It is peculiar that you take me to task for hatred. Who is it you think that I hate? I am afraid you are taking personally critiques I have of your writing because it is vague rather than specific, emotional rather than logical, and hyperbolic rather than measured. No matter. We are all guilty of this at times. It's just that I think you could improve. I hope you will forgive the English teacher in me. You might say that after being lacerated by critical theory that I began to enjoy it for its teething ring usefulness.
Don't hate me because I am demanding. ;) Then I won't hate you because you are idealistic -- romantic even about the human capacity to change.

It is unclear in your post whether you think 10 year old girls can or cannot give informed consent to have sexual intercourse. Please specifically enlighten us, so that we do not mistake you.
Also, is there some particular reason you evoke the Nazis in nearly every post? Is this some sort of "signature" issue for you?>>
I believe you are confused and attempting to spoil for a fight.
I stated that Australia needs an education on what constitutes rape, herein strongly applying reason states that I believe the girl was raped.
Australia has a long history of poor relations and attitudes toward aboriginal people. It mirrors and can be said to be worse than our own history with our native peoples.
Until a strong message is given throughout society that treating aboriginal people with less rights than the rest of Australian society, change will not begin. This will be a long road necessitating collaboration, hard work and healing for those on both sides of the issue.
The same is true for our society. We have lived through times where men and women of many groups have made headway and then backslid on the issues of human dignity and rights. We must go through these cycles before we learn that it is better for all, that we respect each other and treat each other decently. This means that those who have offended need to atone for their actions and those who have been offended to release their anger and forgive or these destructive cycles will take place over and over again. This horrible aberration in Australia, is a terrible price to pay to have society notice that their value system is dissolving into anarchy, as with, yes, the Nazi's in Europe where their value systems crashed causing the deaths of millions, including children.
Why do I use the Nazi's frequently? I do because if we replace their nationalistic fervor with the fervor of unbridled capitalism, that nuance will create similar issues on different strategic paths. If it is good to be rich, and only the rich have power, then more people want to be rich regardless of the cost, because no one wants to be disempowered. We can't all be rich by doing the same thing, i.e., we can't all be real estate agents. So some people choose to become rich by doing others things. Soon a society begins to attune itself to this aspect, and although the society may have certain taboos, we begin to rationalize our behaviors, believing it will not hurt anyone, if we, for example, make pornography because that only involves one person and a photo. Or choosing to sell items or media which bring sex or the sexuality of persons into the consciousness. That cheapens the relationships and respect we have for those who participate. To be at least well off, both parents must work, leaving the children at home, but that is okay, as we have things to entertain them, those same things which use sex in many different ways to attract us to purchase those items. It's fine for the parents to commute long distances and come home too tired to be parents, because of course we can afford all these things which take up our time.
So, the game theory flows on. When becoming rich at any cost detracts from what a democratic society is about, we are no longer empowered, but are dominated by forces in which we do not want to recognize and take to task. That is what occurred in Nazi Germany. The hatred and revenge from the previous war caused the Third Reich to occur.
That is why AKASmith, I use Nazi Germany as an example. Though I can use many examples, our current administration in the White House would be perfect.
If we can only use this forum to name call and cat fight, then why be here at all? What is our purpose if not to make the world better, or to use a quote: "What is a man or woman if he or she does not make the world a better place?"
I'm not here to score points. I am here to make people think, it is what I do in my classes, it is what I do in my research and writings. If all you have is hatred, then perhaps you may have more in common with the Nazis than you think. This is the new millennium, it is time we shrugged off the poor logic of the past and innovate new ways to shape our world. I believe we are on our way, we need to enlighten others and challenge them to join the journey. The real question is, are you ready?
