  • the Harvard study

and othes like it has been discussed her before. By lumping sll those stats together, and by not putting them into clear context, it's neal impossible to understnd the true nature of women being violent against men.

According to that study, my husband is a victim of domestic violence. Because when he says something particularly "Fred Flintsone-ish" (like, say "You get a break every day when the babies take a nap. I have to work all day!") I roll my eyes and respond "Gee, Fred, do you want to be hit with the rolling pin or the frying pan?"

So, though I have no intention of actually carrying out said threat, and he doesn't in the least fear me hitting him with these objects (or anything), Iaccording to Harvard, I have "threatened violence" against my domestic partner, and I am part of the problem!

  • @AKA Smith

A fellow named Smith told him.

  • I missed the earlier stories on this

Please keep us posted on how it goes, okay?

  • Anyone else notice...

A lack of brightstar, on a post that's seemingly made for him, along with the emergence of an anonymous troll?

:sniff: Yeah, I smell brightstar in a clever disguise. Either that, or it's just the mix of TAG body spray and Jergen's lotion that's throwing me off.

  • While I agree with the commentator about the foul language and nastiness......

.... it makes me wonder since yale is the home of the skull and bones, if this isn't some of their rituals which are pretty perverted. Theresa Heinzs is a Yaley as is Hillary Clinton.

If these students know that who are posting this trash, it could very well be the reason for the attacks. They may have concluded these two women are dangerous to our society. I don't know, but I bet we will be surprised when it all comes out. You don't get to the top of the honor society without being invited to join these secret societies. I think that is one of the reasons the founding fathers wrote against them during their time here.

  • But what about...

    ...(me)n, (me)n, (me)n?!?!

A helpful tip: Ignore all anonymous comments and these threads are a little easier to read.

  • This lawsuit is easy

Generalities of patterns of abuse are immaterial in this discussion, the article details a particular incident which is clearly one-sided.

Juliebird mentions "threatening" her husband. In that situation it is clear she is joking with her threat, and both parties agree. But communication isn't as simple as the words that are being spoken, there is context and tone.

Gender isn't even an issue here, almost everybody would rightly be disturbed by credible anonymous threats of violence. Credible because the people issuing the threats clearly have some outside-the-web knowledge of the targets.

This lawsuit is easy - those posters are going down.

  • What's ironic is that the posters will be fingered as creepy, violence-threatening...

...stalkers. Their intent was to be besmirch the reps of the 2 women and it's their reps that will be tainted.

  • SPANKY? IS THAT YUO?????

"Someone who identifies him- or herself simply as "Spanky" isn't likely to provide a home address."

Uh-oh. Spanky is a well-known troll from the now-dead board FuckedCompany (the site is there, the messageboard is not). He runs a board called nicetaco.com. The guy lives in the Chicago area. I could find his address if I had to. His PI (personal information) is public knowledge.

I've been on boards with these sick people for years. They believe in "free speech" - that is, the freedom to spread hatred even in places where it's clearly not welcome.

What has happened here is classic trolling. Yeah, the people doing it are vicious. They don't see the young women as individuals, they are simply faces and characters on a computer screen. The people who trash talk like that DON'T CARE about these women. You don't have to care about something not-real.

You have to be thick-skinned to be out here. There is a level of mental illness that can only be guessed at by those not engaged in the sickness. Would a guy that talks about rape actually do it? Who knows? - and that's the problem. It's threatening and intimidating. But hey - it's FREE SPEECH!

Personally, I'm glad these women are going after these guys. But that won't be the end of it. There will be other head cases that pop right up to fill the void. I don't know if there's a good solution, other than being careful what you put on the Web. Everything can be archived, and nothing is sacred. That applies to "free" speech, too.

  • free speech? Also illegal.

    >It's threatening and intimidating. But hey - it's FREE SPEECH!

It is not protected free speech, it is in fact illegal:

  • Skull & Bones

Unlike University of Virginia's Secret Seven, Yale's Skull & Bones's members' names are known.

And it's an -undergraduate- organization. I'd be surprised if Yale Law students (who weren't undergrads at Yale) were eligible, and I think it's still all-male.

I also think it's unrealistic to expect the young gentlemen who do join Skull & Bones to put their futures on the line this way.

    Something to be grateful for.

  • Skull & Bones

has nothing to do with this. YLS students are not elligible for Bones membership - the current membership is composed only of undergraduates in the senior class. Also, it's certainly not all male - it's actually an extremely diverse group these days - members tend to be the leaders of top groups on campus, like the captain of the football team, the editor of the Daily newspaper, the president of the black students' group...

xoxohth/autoadmit was a playground for sexually frustrated, angry guys to shoot off their mouths in ways they would never have the courage to in real life. If you read the complaint, you see that when you Googled the name of one of the plaintiffs, the first four results were things from autoadmit which talked about her big fake tits and how she was universally hated. Since law firms DO often Google prospective hires, it's not about the plaintiff needing to grow thicker skin, it's about her trying to protect her professional reputation. Considering it probably cost her about $150k just to attend YLS, plus three years of her life, I'd say that's something worth fighting for, and hard.
