Aziz
Find a Navajo to English dictionary. Aziz = penis. And this poor melting snowflake seems to have his in a bunch.
Wouldn't it be easier for this clown to just put his eyes out? After all, he wouldn't be tempted by immodest women OR representations of humans which could result in idol worship, too.

Something seems missing...
I'm having trouble figuring out why Muslim clerics keep saying that womens' dress can be problematic for men, but they never seem to say that mens' dress might be problematic for women.
Can anyone explain this?
-
Come on, dude...
...quit your whining and just put a box of tissues on your nightstand and go to bed 15 minutes earlier. You'll feel SO much better.

This makes perfect sense according to Broadsheet Feminist "Logic"
Just yesterday, two of your blogroll buddies were complaining about a Halloween costume they call "Frank the Flasher"
Echidne of the snakes was flashed in the past, and so Frank the Flasher causes great problems for her. Shakesville thinks costumes like this are horrible. They won't quite say they should be banned, but anyone associated with them should be publically shamed (presumably with a shower of stones.)
However, they support costumes of robbers, muggers, murderers, and they support costumes of rape fantasies.
They support fake tit costumes and they support fake butt costumes.
But not the fake penis costume.
Because Echidne might be triggered.
Read it for yourself, and why not remove these taliban from your blogroll?

Puh-leeze
Some fundie politician from the sticks in a third world country says something stupid? This is noteworthy?
This is an idiot, even in his own environment's terms, and why is anyone paying any attention to him?
-
He makes sense
We men take it for granted that we feel a certain way in life. But it must be a shock to men who are not used to skanks around every corner to be assaulted by sexual imagery around them when they do not want to be assaulted by it.
But then, we men are the punching bags in this society. Imagine growing up somewhere where we as men can maintain some dignity and not be forced to view pornography everywhere we look.
Instead, our sexuality is used as a cudgel against us.
-
How?
but they never seem to say that mens' dress might be problematic for women.
How would men's dress be problematic for women?
Women frankly do not want to see our bits hanging out in speedos and we men obediently oblige.
I suppose the FAIR thing to do would be for us men to expose our parts in tight spandex as much as possible on the argument that since you women can do the same, why should we men not be able to do it also. And I do not mean only the good looking men, I mean ALL men. God help, me I see another 360 degree muffin top or another 300 pounder in tight black leggings.

Cod Pieces
Does anyone remember those historical cod pieces. I bet that caused a lot of women pain... After laughing for hours at the men who put stuffed pillows in front of their groin area to indicate how much status they had. Men should just get a sense of humor like us women have had for centuries... Brght star if you see a 300 pounder stuffed in black leggings with her arse hanging out, my advice to you would be just laugh to yourself.

You cannot tell me that 300 lb men don't wear Speedos. They do, I have seen them, and I have been repulsed!
-
Grow UP!
These are, presumably, adult males?
Whatever happened to self control? Whatever happened to impulse control?
You expect a kid to grab for what it wants and you teach the child, boy or girl, better.
Is this cleric saying that men are children where women are concerned? I think he's insulting men's maturity, and if I were a man, I'd be insulted.
So every Muslim man who is the husband and father in a family can't see a woman in Western dress without wanting to jump her? He lusts in his heart? He's JIMMY CARTER?
Infantilizing men is as harmful to them as infantilizing women.
-
Ironic!
Because when women dress modestly, it causes me physical pain. You know the long skirts and blazer neo-pastor's wife look? - gives me cramps.
-
Always the responsibility of the women
To overgeneralize...
Muslim's believe that women are sexual beings, that men are more "naturally" pure and that women corrupt the thoughts of these innocent men who wouldn't be inclined to sin.
On the other hand, Christians tend to believe women are not as sexual, and that the men are, and it is the woman's responsibilty to not bring lecherous attention upon themselves. In the old days girls were lectured about wearing tops that would "make" boys look at their chests.
The message is still the same, it is the woman's fault for the man's view of her...and she needs to be modest. It also implies that men can't control themselves around temptation.
-
Cod pieces, cont'd.
And at that, cod pieces only came into vogue when it became illegal for commoners to display their privates in public. Those leggings, evidently, didn't actually cover anything above the legs, and it was fashionable for upper class men to wear short coats in order to show themselves off.
-
Maybe the best solution to this cleric's dilemma is to . . .
. . . gouge his own eyes out? After all, it's his problem.

Amerigo says you have two X chomosomes. Is this true?
I wouldn't know. I do not have an electron microscope up my butt.
Or maybe it is why I understand women so well.

gender equality in emotional trauma
We men take it for granted that we feel a certain way in life. But it must be a shock to men who are not used to skanks around every corner to be assaulted by sexual imagery around them when they do not want to be assaulted by it.
Putting aside, for a moment, the fact that I have never once heard a man complain about there being too many scantily clad women around, your poor, hypothetical man's plight is not something that men alone have to endure. For uncountable years women have had to endure the sight of ugly men in clothing (and, dear god, bathing suits) that shows off their back hair, or beer guts, or sad little packages. (Remember, we're talking about all men now, not just the good looking ones.) Why is the "trauma" men endure from seeing women's bodies any worse than the "trauma" women endure from seeing men? (And, with a few exceptions, women have been socialized not to dress suggestively if they are overweight or "undesirable" in other ways. Men seem to dress any way they damn please regardless of what they look like.)
And what if it isn't trauma? What if the Indonesian cleric is really talking about the fact that the women he sees look sexy and fine and the sight of them makes him excited? If that causes emotional distress or sleeplessness in men, why wouldn't seeing good looking men do the same to women? I know it's hard to believe, brightstar, but women really do care about how a man looks. It's not all about how big his car/cigar/bank balance is.
So will someone who knows Islam please tell me why men don't have to keep themselves covered so that women aren't tempted by the sight of them?
