That the only two options presented to society are to accept troglodytes like this Orr character, who want to limit everything and turn the US back to the Victorian Era
Or
We have to accept that women should be able to do what they want without repercussion or responsibility and men need to stay marginalized and keep their mouths shut while paying for the kids they never see.
There is no middle ground.
I would like to see all the options women have, minus late term abortion COMBINED with a fair set of rights for men too. Including ability to have a say in their own child's abortion, reproductive rights of their own, etc., recognition and recompense for men because they are held back from having the same rights women have due to their biology.
I honestly don't see how conservative people can be happy about this. I know that in political comments threads, people like to bust out lots of pointless venom & call people "ReTHUGlicans" or whatever schoolyard nonsense is making the comments-thread rounds, but the fact is that most conservatives - voters and politicians - are just people who look at stuff in a certain way, right - and most of them aren't so stupid as to oppose contraception. Practically all of them use it once a week or so; if this weren't true, we'd be drowning in babies. All something like this appointment does is 1) make a very loud, fairly small minority within the GOP feel like they've been given their lollipop for the month, and 2) make America look insane to most of its own citizens.
How can that be a worthwhile tradeoff? Interested in hearing the opinions of conservatives, less interested in hearing conservatism in general decried as TOTAL INSANITY OMG THEY ARE EVIL AND STUPID etc
For sterilization. Or are the righties going to take that away from us, too?!
...to buy a fleet of C-141s and a guhzillion gallons of Agent Orange.
And I'd earn my, "Heckava job, Holly."
Bush ha apponted themost mediocrue pople to pistons in govnerment. They are anti science and medical misinformants.
this only proves, that those pro-lefers are not really interested in reducing abortions. Focsu n Teh family has alreadyhad much influence on rewriting CDC pamplets wiht a lot fo medical misinformation.
Pray ( better yet VOTE) for new leaderhsip that respects science and medical knowledge.
The simple answer to your question is that conservative voters are regular people like everyone else. Conservative politicians, on the other hand, are extremist bullies. Basically, they are monomaniacal rich people who want to end all taxes for rich people. That is what they are in office to do. The right-to-life schtick and the racist schtick are ways to get funding and votes, respectively.
Sorry if I sound cynical. Sometimes the truth hurts.
Sorry, I did overgeneralize. I don't mean all conservative politicians - just the main ones currently in power. But even folks like Olympia Snow tow the party line. The Republican party works more that way than the Dem party does. (Not that I don't have criticisms of Dems as well.)
not tow. Sorry. Where's my coffee?
The religious issue that abstinence is the most moral position to take regarding birth control, is the most evil, corrupt thinking ever. The condom is the most important and most effective way to stop the pandemic spread of AIDS and the saving of thousands of lives.
Family planning brought to you by someone who does not belive in it. The healthy forest initiative brought to you by people who want to chop down trees. The clear skies initiative brought to you by the folks who wish to reduce limitations in reductions in polution. And the list goes on and on. Who know that Bush was campaigning to be the president of Bizarro World?
As a tangential asside, for those of you who remember the Superman comic books, what would Bizarro Bush be like- someone who is competent? Honest? Fluent in at least one language?
