Tracy Clark referred to Southwest's "apology" to Kyla Ebbert as "respectful"
If I am not mistaken it took the form of "Gee, Kyla, if ..."
Respectful would have been "Ms Ebbert" Dr Phil and other misogynists have consistently referred to her as "Kyla" - disrespectful, infantalizing - I am not clear why Ms Clark let it slide
"I liked you better apologetic and humorless, Southwest"
...I do get the sense that applies to the rest of us (men anyway) as well.
It's easier for women to maintain that seething resentment against us men indefinitely (something they like because it gets them more goodies and obeisance from us) if we just PLAY ALONG with their little ***.

OH NO!!!! It’s the Patriarchy!!!! Look out, its coming RIGHT AT US!!!!!!
F-ing penis wavers.
...not a female.
So i looked up this woman's picture, of course she has to wear clothes like that, she's got a butterface, no one would look at her twice if it wasn't for the fake boobs, fake blonde hair color and the micro-mini's.
Southwest apologized, what the hell else do you want?
Cash in some of your frequent-flier miles (SW or elsewhere) and buy yourself a sense of humor!
Just a bit of advice from a fun-appreciating feminist!
This is ridiculous. There is no corporate policy, here. Southwest did just fine with its apology for the individual actions of what, two employees? Perhaps five at the most, if the complaining passengers include employees who looked on and said nothing either way? Since the vast majority of flight attendants are women, reacting so strongly to this is basically clutching your pearls in response to the pearl-clutching of those flight attendants.
This generated a lot of publicity, and they took advantage of it. The situation *is* silly. Southwest's employees were being silly. It probably felt nasty but what they did was ridiculous, and should be treated as a ridiculous aberration rather than, what? The oppression of hot chicks? When the women in question take advantage of the situation to get attention, I can't really blame Southwest's advertising department for taking advantage of the publicity.
In thinking about why these incidents would happen on Southwest and not on more uptight airlines with snootier clientele, it's probably the stampede nature of loading the flight. When I've flown Southwest, I noticed more passenger interaction both in the lobby sitting around, in line waiting to board, once in the plane, etc. When people know that they're about to be in competition with one another for something, they become hyperaware of others. I have a feeling other passengers complained about these women. I have a feeling passengers complain about other passengers more *period* on Southwest flights than flights with assigned seating. There's a difference sitting in a shitty seat in coach when the parties responsible are basically like the chef back in the kitchen who didn't cook something exactly like you ordered it and the only representatives you can interact with are the waiters, and when you're sitting in a shitty seat in coach because you lost the battle with people sitting in better seats all around you. People also chat more with one another on Southwest flights. It's par for the course.

I respect your response and your comments. But righteous indignation in the face of a holocaust is not grounds for having a universe implode on anyone.
Shouldn't that be "RAISING our rates to the level of mini-skirts"? Hemlines are lowered to the knees and raised toward the waist. LOL.
She flashed the audience when she sat down. Full crotch shot of white panties. Southwest asked her to change because her skirt was riding up and she was flashing people. Some people on the MSNBC boards claiming to be passengers claim she's lying about the "in hearing of everyone" and that she was wearing a thong under that micro mini.
I'm not happy Southwest backed down. WHo wants to sit on the seat after bare butt has been there? Straight women don't want to see a woman flash. She wasn't dressed appropriately for the flight.
I find the micro mini campaign humorous, and I'll fly Southwest. That little girl (she's no woman, sorry- woman is a state of mind) lost her lawsuit on the Today show. The video is everywhere, by the way.
...I mean, you'd have to be the sort of woman that takes anything with a remotely bawdy tinge as evidence of patriarchal oppression to take offense at it.
I don't see as Southwest had anything to apologize for, if the way I heard the story is anything like the way it went down. More of a story of matriarchal oppression, if you ask me. I've flown a lot of Southwest flights, and chatted a lot with their flight attendants, and I'll bet you a dollar to a dime that it wasn't any man on that plane complaining about those girls' attire. It was some prudish old hen exercising her pecking instinct against the "slut" on the plane she perceived as lowering the notional price of you-know-what.
A guy (the Southwest guy) making fun of the quaint social behaviors of women? Doesn't strike me as any more inappropriate than the fun you more than occasionally poke at men's behavior, which is to say--not at all.
Southwest Airlines won my heart with that 'Please keep your arms & heads inside the vehicle' stuff. I think a SWA pilot actually sang happy birthday for me over the intercom once.
These guys are OK. Everyone knows that.
The easiest thing in the world is to lower a conversation into a mud-slinging fest that sucks up moments of our short lives. I don't really care about the details. I'm cool with you having your opinions - I definitely have mine. But it's become obvious to everyone that you bait people to get your jollies, and the conversation instantly sucks ASS.
If there was a way for your comments to whiz by unnoticed, that would be kinda funny, but actually we're all suckers and usually take the bait (as I'm doing right now).
If this is how you act in your normal off-line life, I would be amazed...
ANYWAY: Elevate conversations! Elevate situations! Don't be a black hole!
