  • Actually, not all men's sizes are represented

To Allie: I spent an hour searching for pants that would fit my husband at BJ's and JC Penney's. We were looking for basic, ordinary Dockers. He is tall and skinny. Apparently manufacturers believe this man does not exist, because there are almost no pants in 30 x 32 (plenty in 32 x 30, but 32 is about the lower limit you can find in waist size, unless you shop online.) Ended up with 3 pairs after an hour of searching (and this was searching in one specific department, one specific style, one specific brand; it's not like we had to go all over creation like women do when they're looking for something they can't find.) Also, when I wanted to buy a sneaker-sandal, and couldn't find any in women's, I tried to look in men's. They had them in size 4 for teen boys and size 9 for men, but apparently men with feet between size 4 and size 9 barely exist. (I would have taken a size 6 man's.) Admittedly I am short, but how do men get from size 4 to size 9 without having to wear any shoes in between? Don't tell me they *all* have the instantaneous three-week growth spurt to put on three or five shoes sizes at a time.

That being said, it is beyond ridiculous to say that running, one of the few sports where women can actually compete on almost equal terms with men *and* which has profound real-world value, should be denied to women because they have big breasts. Maybe big breasted women might want to avoid Olympic running, but come on, running is one of the only sports anyone can do anywhere, no matter where you live, and it could someday save your life. All humans should be able to run, if there is nothing wrong with their bodies. We are the tool users; we can damn well invent tools to solve a problem like painfully bouncy breasts.

  • JJ cup?

Why JJ cup? Once we're in to those kinds of sizes, why just just call it K cup?

  • Scientists don't like boobs?

I must say I am extremely surprised that scientists aren't interested in breasts. Aren't there some men so obsessed that they could translate that into research?? (for the purpose of arguement, let's ignore progressive female scientists)

I am also extremely offended that this a fraternity. Seriously? And how involved are the local chapters? I don't want to go hang out with men associated with this entity (we have a local SAE).

  • The Sports Bra Dilemna

This development in the world of bra research is very good news for most women, big and small. In addition to being a professional bra fitter, I am a runner...and a 36FF. Here's what I can tell you from The Front. The statistics on woman wearing the wrong bra size are all too accurate. The selection of comfortable and supportive sports bras available for woman of all sizes are limited: there's the uniboob, where everything is squished in the middle, the "Japanese slingshot" which has no support causing the rebounding breast action, or the "Janitor in a Drum" bra, which mimics wrapping breasts in duct tape. The reason this topic is important, (Gentlemen), is not vanity, but a serious health issue. The unsupported breast can be seriously damanged. They develop stretch marks and sag once the Cooper's ligament is stretched. And once it's stretched, your breasts, no matter what size, are literally running...down your chest to your belly button. Bras that are too tight can cause lumps which send women flying to their doctors for mammograms. There has even been some research indicating that wearing a bra that is too tight can cause malignant tumors. All this having been said, a British company makes good sports bras called Shock Absorbers that are very comfortable and fit a range of sizes from 32B-40G. Unfortunately, for those of us who are large breasted and like sports bras with racerbacks, the options are few. I would just like to encourage all women to go to a reputable bra fitter and find your true size. It will be a life-changing experience.

  • Target's women's underwear department is dire in general...

Apparently, TPTB behind selecting stuff are under the impression that only women up to size 14 buy underwear. And the Gilligan and O'Malley store brand is more filigree than comfort or durability. A shame, considering they could continue to take bites out of Wal-Mart's market if they featured larger sizes as well.

  • re: HeleneCR

I note that the Shock Absorbers brand bra doesn't make bras with a chest size larger than 40. So fat women with big boobs are still SOL.

  • Sports bra discrimination

Sorry, Allie. It isn't fair, but most bra makers don't take into account that a fuller-figured woman would want to exercise. Ironic, huh. A decent soft cup bra works well under these circumstances.

  • Breasts are supposed to move

Bras are unnatural. Period. Breasts are meant to move, to swing as you walk, to bounce as you run. Scrunching them into a bra impedes circulation and it has been suggested that bras, especially tight ones, may be a cause of breast cancer (lymph not draining properly, and all that).

And bras are singularly unattractive unless brand new and worn by nubile young things; aged bras on less perfect forms are disgusting.

Free your breasts and let them bounce, sway and jiggle as Nature meant them to do, no matter what their size. You'll get used to it and your breasts will be all the healthier for it.

    MLW

  • *jiggle*?

geowalk, have you actually tried doing anything physical with large boobs? Or even average ones? Forget about being "free" and all that bollocks - it bloody hurts when they bounce around if you do anything more than walk at a moderate pace. I'm not even going to mention the times of the month where it's painful just stepping off the kerb.

Personally, I'd rather be "free" from unnecessary pain. And if there is any evidence at all about bras potentially causing tumors, I think we'd all be interested in seeing it.

If you want to get and keep a cute girl with big boobs who likes to exercise and thus will be a cute girl with big boobs for years and years, instead of morphing into someone nicknamed "tundra" for her vast girth, the worst thing in the world you could ever do is to show her the comment you just made.

Firstly, she'd smack you and you'd lose the cute girl with big boobs. Secondly, if she entertained your advice as real instead of trollish, the girl's big boobs wouldn't be cute for very long. Think National Geographic special boobs. Keeping big boobs in support structures means they don't stretch out as fast and retain a nice shape.

Just a word of advice if you want to get and keep a cute girl with big boobs from a cute girl with big boobs. Now, then, if you just want to look at girls with big hooters and never get to play, long-term with those hooters. . .keep it up. You're helping cute girls everywhere know not to date you.
